New Short&Suite Episode: I'm Your Puppet (I'm Your Tool)
Hello, my friends. This is just a brief update to let you know about my latest episode of Short & Suite featuring my fellow colleague, Karl Soule, and the music of Johnny Encore & the Acrobats.
Seeing as I've been showing 'the making' of this video (live, on-stage) for some time, it's a real pleasure to let you watch *exactly* how Karl (with a little help from our friend Kush) put together the video elements, and how I mixed all of the audio. Check it out here:
Short & Suite Episode 5: I'm Your Puppet (I'm Your Tool) - Part I
This episode features some really cool techniques for getting big, loud drum sounds and phat, nasty guitars and basses in Audition 3 (using the Guitar Suite). From Alternative, to 60s Pop...we've now entered the Metal realm ;) Get ready to rock out.
Until next time,
Blog on. (and...stay tuned for an Asia Masters Tour wrap-up! Lots 'O pics coming!)

Hey Jason, I have been meaning to tell you for some time now that the Short and Suite series are by far the best on Adobe TV. I really enjoy watching Karl and you describe and show how to use some of the cool features of After Effects and Audition. I look forward to each new episode. Thanks again for the cool videos. I think you guys are the real rock stars...:-)

Hey Mike! Thanks for the great comments. Quite the endorsement, indeed. (I'll be sure to pass it along to Karl and Johnny!) We've really enjoyed the whole process, from concept to creation, with the Johnny Encore stuff; and I can honestly say...the next batch of videos/songs (shooting soon) will rival these first three! Stay tuned, and thanks again. ;) ---JL

Oh man, I totally dissed Johnny and his Acrobats..Sorry Johnny - you rock just as hard dude! I have all your records.
On another note Jason, with you overseas a lot, how do you find time to shoot the series? Plus, you guys should have a behind the scenes/outakes video of Short and Suite. That would be saweet....Later..

Hey Mike. Well, it's definitely a bit of a scheduling nightmare, trying to do all these things at once, when I'm all over the globe; but in truth, I do a lot of the post-production whilst on the road, we're constantly uploading and reviewing cuts/edits, etc., and the rest is just fitting things into blocks of time. Fortunately, I've got a little time (stateside) before the next round of mass touring begins, so we've been able to squeeze in some studio dates. ;) We work quickly (as you can imagine), and I don't mind telling you that everything you see on the show (ie, the stuff of me in the studio) is actually cut in one take. True. As for an outtake/BTS reel: we've talked about it, and if it's doable, we might be able to put something out over the next few months. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again, my friend. --JL

Hey big guy!
Thanks for the kind words on my designs! Really cool.
And your blog's design has definitely improved! (tho you can hardly call the last one a 'design')
They really did a nice job on it - what a cool present to get on your bday.
Let me know if you're ready for a new design in a few months or so ;)
Take care, and I'll wave at you at IBC!

Hey Wink! Well, mutual good vibes all around. (and again, your designs totally rocked!) Good to hear from you. And yeah, I'm still loving the design from Ruf & Greg; good B-day prezzie indeed. So, are you offering a future re-design?? Can I pay you in stroopwaffels? ;) Take care. ---JL
