State of the Typographic Union

The frontrunners: Sens. Barack Obama and John McCain.  So says the Boston Globe, analyzing the type treatments of the US presidential candidates.  Of Obama: “Clean pen strokes evoke a well-pressed Armani suit.”  Of McCain: “Everything about this logo says you can buy a car from this man.”  [Via reader Tim]

    It’s been all over the type blogs, but in case you haven’t seen it (and since you’re already linking to Hoefler & Frere-Jones), H&FJ just released a new typeface: Archer, “the colorful slab serif.” http://typography.com/fonts/font_overview.php?productLineID=100033

    David – Obama uses Perpetua for his logo and Gotham elsewhere.
