John - I just popped online after thinking "I haven't gotten a recent issue of Adobe Magazine" - a to my great dismay, I discover the magazine is no longer available.
Any insight into why it was killed? As a PDF evangelist, it was a wonderful tool for demonstrating the potential of the digital magazine format as well as an inspiration for new ways to use the tools.
I find it sad that Adobe has chosen to discontinue the creation of the magazine.

Hi John,
Thank you for the heads up that the new issue was available for download.
Just curious, any idea why the download is a zip? A zip with just one file. And the file is a PDF.
[I'm guessing (as I have no inside scoop) that the purpose is to make the file download rather than open inside one's browser. On my machine at least the ZIP file wrapper away automatically. --J.]
We are Adobe, so I would think we would be promoting the PDF format. ZIP'ing it seems odd. (And I would not zip a PDF in a similar case on any web site that I am webmaster on.)
Following are the files sizes:
ZIP 11,047,703
PDF 12,474,150
Difference: 1,426,447
So the ZIP is 11.5% smaller. But the whole unzipping process makes it about 300% more of a hassle.
In a case like this, I would just rather direct access to the PDF.
Thanks again,
g
