Charging bulls, lasered Radiohead, and more
- Jumping the shark: predictable and sad. Jumping several hundred pounds of very PO'd livestock: much more spectacular. (Interestingly, the man-gores-bull shot hides behind a "this may be offensive" curtain, whereas the bull-gores-man shots don't.)
- In Curse of the Black Gold, Ed Kashi captures the pain, degredation, and occasional beauty wrought by oil extraction in Nigeria. (The tiny bottom nav bar offers more info about each image.)
- I used to carry around a GI Joe head that I'd photograph in all kinds of situations (say, the middle of Death Valley). I named him Sgt. Goldbug, after the little Richard Scarry creation who'd hide somewhere on every page. Witold Riedel is up to similar tricks with The Bear In Repose.
- Getty editors are getting set to start approaching Flickr users, offering to license their images. PDN offers some perspective on what it all means. [Via Geoff Scott]
- The new Radiohead video was shot without using cameras--instead employing LIDAR (laser radar). I see only stills so far, but I look forward to the finished product.
- Lightroom:
- Fashion photographer Martin Evening takes readers inside the photo shoot for his forthcoming Lightroom 2 book.
- Michael Clark offers a great tip for quick Rank n' Advance in Lightroom (via the Caps Lock key).

that head is great. it looks like gi joe just drowned in the middle of the road.
the bear photos actually started precisely in death valley. how strange.
here is the bear at the lowest point of the western hemisphere,
and here above death valley.

I, too, wondered about the "offensive content" block on the Running with the Bulls gallery when I looked through it yesterday.
Similar to the GI Joe & bear photo adventure(s), reminds me of an artist who photographs Barbie in unusual places like the microwave or whirling around in a blender.
Mattel was not pleased with this photo op idea. And sued the artist in an attempt to make him stop. But Mattel lost. Yep, like it or not, the judge says it's art!
Is there any workaround to prevent Illustrator CS2 from crashing on Macintel/10.4.11? I have been testing a clean 10.4.11, AI CS2 and Mac Pro early 2008 for a while now. We can't move to CS3 yet until at least 2009. We have problems mixing CS3 and CS2. So we stay with CS2 and Powermac G5 Dual for now.
Below is example of 90% of the AI crashes. I have tested with and without Version Cue CS2 installed. With and Without enabled from both Illustrator and Photoshop. AI CS2 is still crashed by Version Cue thread similar to the one below (yes, Version Cue still crash AI even when Version Cue is NOT installed AND Version Cue support is disabled from AI preferences).
