Lightroom 2.2 now available

The Lightroom 2.2 update is now available for download (Mac|Win) from Adobe.com.  The release includes new camera support for the following models:

  • Canon EOS 5D Mark II
  • Canon PowerShot G10
  • Panasonic DMC-G1
  • Panasonic DMC-FX150
  • Panasonic DMC-FZ28
  • Panasonic DMC-LX3
  • Leica D-LUX 4

The Calibration panel in Lightroom's Develop module now features an extensible set of camera profiles, designed to provide different interpretations of raw capture.  In addition the update fixes a few bugs that were introduced with the Lightroom 2.0 release; the ReadMe file (PDF) has the details on those.

[Update: Tom Hogarty says, "Beta profiles can be found and deleted from the following directories:

  • Mac: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/CameraProfiles/
  • XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles
  • Vista: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles]

Do you know how to get rid of the beta camera profiles?

I can't find an uninstaller for them in Add/Remove Programs.

The new color profile feature is fantastic! This may remove an entire app from my workflow.

Seems to make my Lightroom "a bit" better, so I'm happy, but I hope they still work on the performance issues. It seems that Lightroom works better on my 30" display if I DON'T have the window maximized to fit the whole screen..? I might be wrong, don"t know..? Maybe my older video card has something to do with it? Either way, the update seems to be a step in the right direction, so that's a good thing. Thanks John.

Regarding Tom Hogartys update: Don´t remove Adobe/CameraRaw/CameraProfiles/ when final profiles for ACR 5.2 are installed. Otherwise PS/Bridge can´t use the new profile styles.

@James:
Dude, its right at the end of the post from J Nack. Just take a look, get the location and remove the beta profiles.

[I posted the update in response to James's question. --J.]

Not sure why, but for me, on Vista (64) the profiles were actually found here:
C:\Users\All Users\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles

Hope that helps anyone as stumped as I was.

And for me they were in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Camera Raw...

I took the adjustment brush for a spin after updating (with auto mask on) and it performs much smoother than before. I actually stopped using it in 2.1, now it seems to keep up with my pen strokes. Good work Lightroom team!

The path for Vista is wrong. It should be:

C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles

as documented in the DNG profiles FAQ at

http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/DNG_Profiles_FAQ#WhereInstall

[Sorry about that; now fixed. Thanks to everyone for the heads-up. --J.]

I just wonder how it behaves with Photoshop CS3...

I prefer to export to Photoshop using SmartObject, but LR 2.2 is tailored to work with the new ACR, shipped only with CS4...

[The last update to ACR for CS3 has the ability to display, but not edit, adjustments applied in LR2/CS4. Therefore I'd expect you to be able to see everything as you applied it, and to tweak the settings that are common to CS3. --J.]
