Glad you like this image. It’s based on a major modeling effort using supercomputers, so it’s not a photo. Instead, it’s the first visualization ever achieved of a sunspot in 3-D. For movies and more images, see: http://www2.ucar.edu/news/sunspots-3d-multimedia-gallery
