Cool DIY aerial filmmaking

I’ll say it again: I’m oddly thankful that incredible technology like this didn’t exist when I was a kid, as otherwise I’d have lost my entire adolescence to it. First, here’s what happened when filmmaker Joe Simon mounted a Canon 7D to an RC helicopter:

If you prefer more the rock-n-roll grunge tip, check out the work of 19-year-old Jeremiah Warren and his rocket-mounted spy cam:

It happens. My son routinely takes over the entire living room with a green screen.

    John,
    Love the video.

Do you know who I can contact about buying the kind of helicopter to mount my camera on, D300s or where to start?

    Ken in KY

[Good question, Ken, but I’m afraid I have no idea. Perhaps someone will chime in with a suggestion. –J.]

John/Ken – Check out the web site http://www.rcgroups.com. There’s an aerial photography section there where every kind of mounting a camera to an RC plane/helicopter/quadcopter/etc is discussed. You can sink a TON of money into it.
