Issue updating Adobe Revel 1.1 from the Mac App Store?

Several users have encountered a bug in the Mac App Store when upgrading from Adobe Carousel 1.0.3 to Adobe Revel 1.1. The issue is that the app fails to update and you get an error message:

revel update error message

revel update error message

To fix the issue, after seeing hash mismatch error:

  1. Close MAS
  2. Delete Adobe Carousel
  3. Open MAS
  4. Search for Adobe Revel, if not there, search for Adobe Carousel.
  5. Re-install.

These steps have worked for several folks, so let me know if they don’t work for you.

New Adobe Carousel release and name change to Adobe Revel

Tonight we went live with the 1.1 version of Adobe Carousel, this fixes a bunch of mostly small bugs and adds a couple new features as well: auto-import from camera roll and posting to flickr. We’re working on a bunch of new features now for another release soon, some requested by you on our forums. Keep those requests coming!

Another major change with this release is that the app is now called “Adobe Revel.”

There is more information on the product page and on the Photoshop Blog.

We reached a few milestones recently that the team is also pretty proud and excited about. We are now managing more than 21 million customer images. The application has also been downloaded almost 4 million times. We want to continue to improve the application and make it ever more useful and fun for you to use, so please send us your suggestions and feature requests!

[Update 1/11/12]
I forgot to include the links to the app store:

Pixel Bender Toolkit 2.5 released!

UPDATE 12.17.2010! We’ve resolved the bug and posted a new build. Please download this new build and use at will!

UPDATE 12.13.2010! It looks like the problem we discovered is Mac-only. We now have a repro case and are working on a new build. Please reply to this post if you’ve seen any issues with parameters not appearing on Windows machines (we can’t repro that case). If you are running on a mac, please skip this build and we’ll post another ASAP.

UPDATE 12.11.2010! It looks like something went wrong in the staging and the wrong version was posted. Please hold off installing for now.

The newest version of the Pixel Bender Toolkit, 2.5 is now available for download from the Pixel Bender Technology Center or as an update if you installed it as part of the Creative Suite or After Effects or Flash Pro.

This new version includes some bug fixes and a new graphical editor for creating Pixel Bender graphs for Photoshop or After Effects.

One thing to be careful on, if you currently have version 2.1 of the Pixel Bender Toolkit installed, you need to follow some instructions in the release notes before installing version 2.5

Happy Pixel Bending!

Pixel Bender Toolkit 2.1 now available!

An update of the Pixel Bender Toolkit is now available via the Adobe Updater and from the Pixel Bender Developer Connection area on adobe.com. If you have installed After Effects CS5, Flash Professional CS5 or one of the suites that includes these applications, you will see the update listed in the available updates. If you installed the Pixel Bender Toolkit via downloading it on from Adobe.com, you will need to download the update and install it by following the installation instructions.

The majority of effort in the release was on bug fixes found late in the CS5 development cycle. There have been some good bugs reported in the Pixel Bender forums, some are fixed in this release and some will be fixed in a later release.

There has been one major change in the behavior of the Flash preview in this release. In the 2.0 version of the Pixel Bender Toolkit, if you have a kernel with two inputs, the filter was treated as a Flash blend shader. This resulted in some unexpected results, especially when compared to CPU or GPU previews. Now, when you have a two input kernel, we instead create a ShaderJob and use the two input images as inputs. Hopefully, this will make things a bit more consistent. In a future version of the Toolkit, we plan to make this behavior selectable, but the blend case seemed to be very uncommon.

Thanks for using these tools and providing good feedback! If you find any problems or have feature requests, please post them to the Pixel Bender forums!

New release of the Pixel Bender Toolkit 1.5.1

Last week, we posted a new revision of the Pixel Bender Toolkit (1.5.1) into the downloads area on Adobe labs. This version fixes a couple bugs from the previous release in exporting Pixel Bender Bytecode for Flash. Booleans should now work correctly.

A request we’ve had a few times on the Pixel Bender forum and over on twitter has been that we post the language reference and developer’s guide separate from the Toolkit download itself. Those documents are now available as well on the downloads page.
