The Community Help AIR application lets you access up-to-date definitive reference content online and offline, find the most relevant content contributed by experts from the Adobe community, comment on, rate, and contribute to content in the Adobe community, and more.

Adobe Labs Ideas for Flash Catalyst Launched

Adobe Labs Ideas is a place for the community to suggest and discuss new and exciting functionality for Adobe technologies. Post your own ideas or review and vote on ideas submitted by the community. The Adobe development teams will review all submissions and use your collective input to prioritize feature requests and help shape future versions of products.

This initial launch of Adobe Labs Ideas allows Adobe Flash Catalyst users to vote on feature requests and share new ideas with the development team and user community. If you have an idea for how the Flash Catalyst beta can be better, let us know!

Squiggly Now Available on Labs

Squiggly is a spell checking engine for Adobe Flash Player and Adobe AIR. The Squiggly library allows you to easily add spell checking functionality in any Flex 3 based text control. The distribution package consists of a utility for building your own spelling dictionaries, a sample English dictionary, an Action Script package that checks individual words for spelling accuracy, and sample code that demonstrates "check as you type" functionality -- see the online demo. While the included UI class requires the Flex SDK, the core spell checking engine can be used in pure Flash applications without any dependency on Flex packages.

CinemaDNG Now Available on Labs

When film is used as the capture medium, cinematographers take great care when handling source film footage. Developed in response to the move to digital capture by many cinematographers, CinemaDNG is a digital replacement for film negatives that helps cinematographers ensure that their digitally captured scenes retain their pristine quality so they can be used to deliver the film's artistic vision. CinemaDNG is similar to the popular DNG format used for digital still photography but adds elements to specifically support digital cinema workflows.

Adobe Story Now Available on Labs

Adobe Story is a collaborative script development tool designed for creative professionals, producers, and writers working on or with scripts and screenplays. This preview version will let you try out a few of the scriptwriting tools that will be part of the overall features in the final version of Story.

The Adobe Pixel Bender technology delivers a common image and video processing infrastructure which provides automatic runtime optimization on heterogeneous hardware. You can use the Pixel Bender kernel language to implement image processing algorithms (filters or effects) in a hardware-independent manner. The Pixel Bender graph language is an XML-based language for combining individual pixel-processing operations (kernels) into more complex Pixel Bender filters.

The Camera Raw plug-in provides easy access within Photoshop to the raw image formats produced by many leading professional and midrange digital cameras. The 'release candidate' label indicates that the plug-in is well tested but would benefit from additional community testing before it is distributed automatically to all of our customers. The Camera Raw team would like the community to help verify the quality of the plug-in through normal usage as this will ensure that the plug-in is tested on a diversity of hardware and software configurations not available internally at Adobe.

An update to the Fireworks CS4 Export to FXG script is now available on Adobe Labs in support of the Flash Catalyst beta.

Flash Catalyst can import FXG graphics created in Fireworks CS4 using the new FXG file format. FXG is an XML-based graphics file format that represents graphics in a way that follows the Flash Player 10 rendering model. This new Export to FXG JavaScript file replaces the one that shipped with Fireworks CS4 to improve the design fidelity of graphics imported into Flash Catalyst.
