LiveCycle Workspace Tracking column headings

When dealing with columns on the Workspace Tracking page there are three scenarios that may or may not cause confusion. Hopefully this will clear things up a bit.

A) When you navigate to the Tracking page you are presented with a list of process names, in the left hand pane, for processes that you have participated in. When you select a process name you are presented with a list of process instances in the right hand pane. The columns displayed at this level are fixed and ARE NOT affected by changes made on the ‘Manage Column Heading’ preference page.

B) When you open a process instance, to view the list of steps in that process, you are presented with several columns that display varying details for each step. These columns ARE affected by changes made on the ‘Manage Column Heading’ preference page.

For example:
1) Log in to Workspace and select the Preferences link.
2) Open the ‘Manage Column Headings’
3) Select the ‘Tracking’ radio button.
4) Make changes to the columns in the ‘Select Headings’ area and the ‘Order Headings’ area
5) Click Save

These values now become the default columns displayed when viewing the contents of process instances.

C) However, you can also customize columns displayed on a per process basis.

For example:
1) Log in to Workspace and select the Preferences link.
2) Open the ‘Manage Column Headings’
3) Select the ‘Tracking’ radio button.
4) Expand the ‘View Options’ drop down list and select a process.
5) Make changes to the columns in the ‘Select Headings’ area and the ‘Order Headings’ area
6) Click Save

These values now become the default process instance columns displayed ONLY for the process you selected in the ‘View Options’ drop down list.

To summarize:
- Section A the columns are fixed and cannot be changed
- Section B these columns become the defaults for all processes
- Section C these columns become the defaults for the specific process and override
section B.
