I want to share some updates on what’s happening with LiveCycle Data Services. The next major release of Data Services following LiveCycle Data Services 3.1 is called ADEP Data Services for Java EE 4.6. The version number is aligned with Flash Builder and Flex SDK releases. We’re very excited about this release especially the new native Apple iOS, Google Android and HTML5/JS support and the new connectivity to SAP back-end systems.
We have just made available a public preview build via Adobe Labs (http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/adep_dataservices_jee/). I’d like to encourage you to check it out and provide feedback to the team.
Not sure if you should check it out? Here are some of the new features we are planning to provide with ADEP Data Services for Java EE 4.6 and we’d like to get feedback on:
– Java and Google Android client SDK
– Apple iOS client SDK
– SAP Connector and tooling
– .NET Remoting, Messaging, Data Management and MSMQ Adapters
– Microsoft IIS Plug-in for Remoting, Messaging and MSMQ
– Managed Remoting
– Enhanced Model-Driven Development
– Offline Synchronization Framework
– Spring Support
More details on each of the features can be found on the labs site.
Please note that we are planning to make these features available on the platform as well at a later point in time. So keep in mind that there are two releases of Data Services: (1) the capabilities of the ADEP platform and (2) the standalone release. Currently, they differ in functionality.
