LiveCycle ES2 Connector for Microsoft SharePoint – Upload Large File sizes

We were recently working on a customer scenario who was facing issues with uploading documents greater than 50 MB on the Microsoft Sharepoint Server 2010.

There are a couple of things that one needs to keep in mind when dealing with large file sizes:

1. You might be hitting the below error message:

Reason of failure is—–ALC-SPC-103-000: Caught Exception: {0}    org.apache.axis2.AxisFault: There was an exception running the extensions specified in the config file. —> Maximum request length exceeded.

In order to deal with this scenario you would need to make changes to the “web.config” for your website and increase the value for the attribute “maxRequestLength”.

2. Even after increasing the above parameter we still faced issue with uploading file sizes > 50 MB, the error reported in this scenario was as below:

Reason of failure is—–ALC-SPC-744-000: Operation failed with the following error code [Unknown] and error message [The specified file is larger than the maximum supported file size.].

By default the default maximum upload size for SharePoint is configured as 50 MB. In order to resolve the above issue you would need to increase the Web Application limit on the SharePoint server as described below:

  1. Go to SharePoint Central Administration > Application Management > Manage Web Applications.
  2. Select SharePoint-80 and then select General Settings
  3. Change the Maximum Upload Size setting to the MB limit you want to set. In our case we had set this to 100 MB.

After performing the above changes we were successfully able to load file sizes >50 MB.
