Macromedia News Firefox Extension and Firefox 1.5

As Christian mentioned, Firefox 1.5 was released today. Unfortunately, it seems to have broken the Macromedia News Firefox extension.

Basically, if you click a link in the extension, it will prompt you to pick an app to handle the URL, and will then crash Firefox.

I am going to look into this, but it might take some time to isolate and / or work around the issue.

Using Flex Components in ActionScript Projects

A lot of people have had questions about whether you can use the Flex 2 Framework classes / controls (everything in mx.*) within an ActionScript 3 project without using any MXML.

You can definitely do this, and we have posted some info on the labs wiki that shows how (written by Gordon Smith).

ActionScript 2 to ActionScript 3 Migration Reference

Just noticed this, but there is an ActionScript 2 to ActionScript 3Migration reference up on Labs.

This is a great reference to get an overview of some of the changes.

You can download the Flex Builder 2 alpha and start playing around with ActionScript 3 from here.

Note that it looks like a huge document, but a lot of the changes are just APIs moving into a package (as part of the general API clean up).

Watch SparkEurope Sessions online Live

Just a quick note before I run to my session, but FabChannel is broadcasting live all of the sessions from SparkEurope, including tonight’s keynote.

Colin Moock’s ImageViewer Example Updated to ActionScript 3
