Acrobat 3D Version 8 Released

Adobe announced the immediate availability of Acrobat 3D Version 8 today–May 30, 2007. As Acrobat 3D is built on and includes all the capabilities of Acrobat Professional, it inherits the ‘Version 8’ from the current version of the rest of the Acrobat family. Acrobat 3D Version 8 is in actuality the second release of Acrobat 3D and represents a major step forward…

Central to this release was the integration of technology acquired with the purchase of Trade Technologies France (TTF) including professional grade CAD importers, the capability to extract and store precise CAD data inside PDF as precise geometry and topology (commonly referred to as ‘boundary representation’, or B-Rep), the ability to highly compress B-Rep and tessellated geometry, extract and store product manufacturing information like geometric tolerances and dimensions, and to export the geometry stored in PDF to neutral formats like STEP, IGES and Parasolid. These features strengthen the value of Acrobat 3D for design collaboration and technical publications while the export capabilities enable a new use for Acrobat 3D, CAD data interoperability.
