Announcing the Ruby on Rails RIA SDK by Adobe
Following a similar release to the PHP RIA SDK by Adobe that I announced last month, today I'm happy to announce that I'm releasing a similar project for those of you interested in Ruby on Rails and Adobe Flex. With the help of Derek Wischusen, who has written all the samples in the SDK, today I'm announcing the creation of an open source project to help Ruby on Rails developers get started with Adobe Flex. The initial release of the SDK contains four samples, each with various degrees of complexity.
The most complex sample makes use of the WebORB for Ruby on Rails software that the Midnight Coders released a few weeks ago.
If you're interested in Ruby on Rails and Adobe Flex, you can participate in our small but growing community by joining the Ruby on Rails RIA SDK mailing list and / or contributing to the project, currently hosted on Google Code.
You can download the Ruby on Rails RIA SDK by Adobe (~4 MB) or you can check out the project on Google Code via Subversion.

This is great! I'm currently making a flex 2 app with the cairngorm framework and a ruby on rails backend. It uses Flex Remoting (via Weborb). When it's finished I'll contribute to your project. I think flex as the ui, and rails as the backend makes a great team. It's certainly working for me.
NICE! Im workinf with flex on .net application atm but soon might be able to add to this.

Mike, I found this to be a very nice writeup here for the RIA with flex. It's really impressive to see this combination happening. Some of the SDK samples are a bit complicated like you said but I find it all fascinating and it really shows off some of the advances in just the last 2 years in application dev and deployment.
Like Alex, I have been using Rails with Flex. In fact I have written about having a rails back end respond to a Flex ui. I think that having RoR RIA SDK available to use and learn will be of great help, and inspiration for more blog entries...
This is awesome, but how about a Django SDK next?
This is very exciting news, thank you for your work! I've been wanting to get these two technologies together for a while now.
FYI: I'm working on a PDF-only book (self-published on Lulu) about using Flex 2.0 and Rails 1.1 together. I just released an Alpha version at http://www.flexiblerails.com. The book is written as an extended tutorial. The code from each completed iteration is publicly available on the site.

BTW, Ruby on Rails Cairngorm Generator is released by Ilya Devers.
It does:
* Take your application name and create typical Cairngorm structure, including modelLocator, frontController, services.mxml and application itself. You can also set the package structure.
* Create (server) delegates.
* Generate Cairngorm Commands, Events and comments.
* Create standalone events and value objects (though author acknowledges that it could make more sense to create VOs based on model classes).
* Include generator for WebOrb Service class.
