New Update for Photoshop Touch Available! Pressure-Sensitive Stylus Support, 7-Inch Device Support, and More!

I’m very pleased to announce that a new update to Photoshop Touch is now available! Photoshop Touch 1.4 can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store, Google Play, and Amazon Appstore. In this update, we have some great new features and improvements:

Pressure-sensitive stylus support for iPad
Stylus We added support for three of the most popular pressure-sensitive styli in this version of Photoshop Touch: the Pogo Connect*, Jot Touch and JaJa Stylus. Using the special capabilities of these devices, users can draw, paint and retouch their work in Photoshop Touch with a more natural look and feel. At this time, these styli support iOS only. We’ve also improved our brushing engine to make smoother strokes with or without a special stylus.

Expanded device support
Photoshop Touch 1.4 is now optimized to work on smaller devices, including the iPad mini, Google Nexus 7, and Amazon Kindle Fire 7-inch and 8.9-inch devices. In fact, Photoshop Touch 1.4 will work on any Android 3.1 or later device with at least a 7-inch screen and a resolution of 1024×600.

We recently began selling Photoshop Touch through the Amazon Appstore. Please note that a purchase in one store cannot be transferred to another store. Unfortunately there is no way for Adobe to allow this, and we encourage users to make their purchase in the most applicable app store for the devices they own.

More new features
• Smoother brush strokes
• Two new Effects: Lens Flare (under “&” menu) and Stamp Pattern
• Improved grid layout for projects, tutorials, and images
• New support for sharing to Facebook, Twitter, and other registered apps
• Quick access to last 5 colors with new shortcut (drag down on Color)
• Various bug fixes

We are very excited about these new features and would love to see your work. Tweet your artwork to us using the hashtag #PsTouch and follow us on Facebook and Twitter for helpful tips, techniques and to see what other people are creating with Photoshop Touch.

* Pogo Connect requires iPad 3 or later with Bluetooth 4.0 support

The new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and it’s integrated stylus works with Photoshop Touch as well. Pressure sensitivity as well!

Your article says it’s only for IOS, but your picture clearly shows the Samsung tablet.

I’ve seen them at Best Buy, so I know it works well!

I use PS Touch on a Sony Tablet S and a Galaxy Note 2 but with the latest update it is unusable on the Note 2 because the buttons are sometimes unreachable. (out of the screen)

Please fix this. Version 1.3 works flawlessly.
(after doing a backup of the apk from my
Sony Tablet and then manually installing on the Note 2)

Is there any way to change the layout by myself?

With the S-Pen PS Touch works so nice otherwise…

Will you support the Note 1 or 2 in the future?
    Thank you in advance.

Have you ever thought about including a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is valuable and all. Nevertheless think about if you added
some great visuals or videos to give your posts more, “pop”!
Your content is excellent but with pics and video clips,
this site could undeniably be one of the best in its niche.
    Awesome blog!

Hello would you mind letting me know which hosting company
you’re working with? I’ve loaded your blog in 3 different web browsers and I must say this
blog loads a lot faster then most. Can you recommend a good web hosting provider at a honest price?
    Kudos, I appreciate it!

My Galaxy Note 10.1 came with an older version of Photoshop Touch, why will it not update to the newer version in the Google Play store?

  • By Stephen Nielson - 2:17 PM on January 18, 2013

@Major Reed: the free copy provided with your Galaxy Note 10.1 must be updated through the Samsung App Store. You can find the free update to version 1.4 there.

So any hope of this coming to the Note 2 soon? Or should I just haul off and get your competitors product?

I just purchased a new Dell XPS 27 All in One. I have the trial version of Adobe Photoshop CS6. I have a Targus Stylus that will sometimes work on the touch screen and sometime won’t. Do you know how I can fix this issue. Thanks

  • By thomas dickens - 11:10 PM on October 20, 2013

is there any way to get pressure sensitive stylus working with Dell XPS 27 All In One, and/or Dell XPS 18 All In One?? Who makes that, and how is it decided which device it works on, like it works on Surface Pro 2, but not other devices. Why? I want to use a pressure sensitive pen on my Dell now.

I really really really hope you guys are going to announce an update that includes the Wacom Intuos Creative Stylus soon. I love using Adobe Ideas with the new Wacom stylus but have continued to resist buying Photoshop Touch for its lack of support for this stylus (I tried the styluses that you DO support but the disc-tipped ones just feel strange to me)! Once PS Touch has support for the switches and pressure sensitivity in the Wacom stylus, I think I’ll be able to move a lot more of my workflow to my iPad – and if you can link the pressure sensitivity to desktop Photoshop so I can use my iPad to control it (as some of your other apps have), I will be doing the most enthusiastic happy dance ever.

Jot Touch does not work except as a passive stylus. When is Touch going to make bluetooth connection/pressure sensitivity work as advertised?

  • By Bithia Sherman - 3:28 PM on December 28, 2014

Please note I had PS Touch already loaded on my Samsung Note II tblet. However, you were advertising an updated feature via the playstore for $10. which i paid. Only to discover, the same product with the same features. Needless to say I felt ripped off. This program will now be deleted. However, I am interested in buying the PS Lightroom, would you allow a$10 credit to go towards that product as you advertsing on the proir purchase was misleading to new & improved version that did not exist.
