Photoshop Touch Now Available for Amazon Kindle Devices

Today Amazon announced availability of the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch device. We have worked closely with Amazon to enable Adobe Photoshop Touch on this device, and are proud to announce that it is available for purchase in the Amazon Appstore immediately for US$9.99.

In addition, we are announcing support for the updated 7-inch Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD devices. This means that Photoshop Touch is optimized for both 8.9-inch and 7-inch screens, giving users a great experience on all recent Kindle Fire devices. (This does not include the 1st generation Kindle Fire, but only the newer devices running Android 4.0.)

The Photoshop Touch team is constantly looking at new devices and form factors and is committed to bringing the core Photoshop features to new devices. Please keep an eye out for additional updates coming and make sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

Please make this compatible with the Nexus 7. Now that it works for the 7 inch Kindle Fire, there is no excuse anymore.

I agree. The Nexus 7 is just as capable as the Kindle Fire HD.

You might wanna try accessing it from the Amazon App Store from your Nexus 7. It’s even available for purchase through my Galaxy Nexus (even though the Play Store lists it as incompatible.)

I wrote a request and a gentleman from India responded and spent considerable time upgrading me from Photoshop 10 to 11.

I needed help with getting the 11 version installed and he handled it very professionally and resolved all the issues I had. He was OUTSTANDING. It is great to get really good help when you need it.

You can purchase PS Touch from the Amazon App Store for your Nexus 7. Works perfectly.

  • By Andrys - 10:34 AM on November 17, 2012

Hi, I bought PSTouch for my Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tab, went through some of the tutorials, and went to Adobe Headquarters in San Francico when they gave a very good demo on it.

So, I’ve paid the $9.95 and have enjoyed it. (It seems to behave differently now that my Samsung 10.1 Tab was upgraded from Honeycomb to Ice Cream Sandwich but that’s a side issue.)

BUT, the main thing — I have a Kindle Fire HD 7″ and my 8.9″ version is coming next week. Google Play tells me that the PS Touch app (they show no update, by the way) is compatible with my Samsung 10.1 and is already installed. The Google Play site will not recognize Amazon Kindle Fires of any type.

Therefore, the only way for me to get this latest is to pay Amazon *another* $9.95 to be able to download this update.

Is there ANY way that you know of that I can just get the update for my Kindle Fire without paying a 2nd time for PS Touch? Thanks.

      Hi Andrys,

Unfortunately, there is nothing that Adobe can do to prevent this situation. In order to do what you described, Google and Amazon would have to agree to accept purchase on each other’s stores. The best advice I can give is to carefully evaluate which app store to buy from, given the devices you have. Best of luck!

    Hi-
How can I tell if Photoshop Touch will work on my Kindle? It is not an HD and it is a 7″ tablet but how can I tell what version Kindle I have?

I love Photoshop and would love to use it on my Kindle!

    Thanks!

    Connie

    • By Lex van den Berghe - 6:22 PM on December 4, 2012

It will work on your Kindle if you have a Kindle Fire…but it must be a Fire model running Android 4.0.
