Photoshop 13.0.3/13.1.1 Updates Now Available

Today we released Photoshop update version 13.0.3 (for Mac perpetual customers) and version 13.1.1 (for Creative Cloud members, Mac and Windows), resolving the following bugs:

    • Certain PSD files fail to open when they have layer FX applied to layers
    • The application crashes when opening certain EPS files
    • On Retina machines, the application crashes when the Navigator panel is displayed in some workspaces

How to get the Update

1. In Photoshop, choose Help > Updates.
2. The Adobe Application Manager will launch. Select Adobe Photoshop CS6 and choose Update.

How to confirm that the Update worked

1. In Photoshop, choose Help > About Photoshop (Win), or Photoshop > About Photoshop (Mac)
2. For Mac perpetual customers, the version at the top should be Version: 13.0.3
3. For Win/Mac Creative Cloud members, the version at the top should be Version: 13.1.1

Looks like another non-working update.
I am a Creative Cloud Customer, with Photoshop CS6 13.1 x64 Extended according to Photoshop’s About Box

… and after choosing Help/Updates, I get “No updates available” (actually in French) as an answer.

When are those updates gonna actually work ? (it seems to me that none of the CS6 updates worked normally for me, although I am a Creative Cloud customer)

In regards to your failed updates, launch the “Adobe Application Manager”. That should show you the proper updates needed.

Hi Jérôme, I wonder if there was a hiccup in the update server. I was able to see the update just now. Are you still having trouble with seeing the updates?

If you’re still having trouble, post more details here so we can help: Help with downloads, install and updates:

Looks like this may be an incomplete update (also).
Certain CS Extensions either completely crash or fully stall 13.1, both Mac and Windows. Is that on the list?

Are you having trouble with 13.1 or 13.1.1? Which specific extensions are you having trouble with?

“Are you having trouble with 13.1 or 13.1.1?” 13.1 for Mac and Windows. (BTW, the updates are currently, right now, installing OK on both systems. Both were immediately recognized by the Application Manager on startup this morning.)
“Which specific extensions are you having trouble with?” My own – it is here: – the links to support and tutorial content in the Support tab are the problem. I have notified Jonathan.
      Thanks for responding.

… and the problem is reproduced also in 13.1.1 – I just checked

I’ll take a look. It’s possible the panel has other problems (certificate, etc).

Does Minibridge and Kuler work for you?

        Thanks for the heads up.

“… possible the panel has other problems (certificate, etc).” I do not believe so – nobody has complained. I found the problem myself yesterday, in testing a companion Extension before submitting it.
Kuler is OK. Mini Bridge asks me to allow a new In-Design Extension, but appears fine.

I can repro an issue when clicking the links. We’re investigating and will work with the dev to track down.

Jérôme, could you please post in the forum linked earlier? It will be easier to troubleshoot your issue there!

Is update for Windows version, because update doesn’t work from either CS6 or Adobe Updater (which was updated).

Are you a Creative Cloud member? The update is for fixes introduced in the Creative Cloud version and the Mac Retina compatibility update for Mac.

No issues updating a cloud based version of CS6 using Adobe Application Manager. It detected an update and installed it. Previous version was 13.1.0.

***** I can not open Photoshop since today. A disaster! ***** It is merely the Adobe Application Manager opens with an invitation to subscribe to the Photoshop Extended trial or test. For the test, a login is required. To give an opportunity to both versions do not exist!

Supplement: Update on the lower left button (light gray). There, the key must be entered again. Why? No idea! The whole thing looks to want to cash in as the trial before Christmas again sneaky.

    Hi Klaus,

Extended and standard are the same thing. Just choose [License this Software] and enter your serial # and it will activate it as the standard version of Photoshop.

I’m a Creative Cloud subscriber. I have the account at I updated my PS but the version is 13.03 instead of 13.1. With 13.03, I’m not able to get the CS’s features. One of them is non-destructive liquify tool with Smart Filter. I don’t know why I can’t update my PS to 13.1.

I tried twice uninstalling the existing software and reinstalling from my’s account. After PS is installed, then I did the updates there. Same thing as before. My version is still 13.03.

Do you know why?

    Hi Stephen,

It sounds like the version you have was once activated as a perpetual product and you switched to Creative Cloud. (13.0.3 is the update for perpetual customers, not Creative Cloud members)

I would ask the install experts here: Help with downloads, install and updates:

My guess is you need to deactivate, uninstall using the uninstaller inside the Photoshop application folder, reinstall, log in with your Creative Cloud log-in and choose Help>Updates… to install the 13.1 update for Creative Cloud members).

Do you know if you’re logging in with your AdobeID when you install or if a serial number is being put in Stephen?
What you’re describing suggests that you have put a serial number in to register your Photoshop rather than utilizing your cloud subscription account.
Once you are in Photoshop you can click Help > Deactivate to see if you are using a serial number license, or creative cloud subscription. Don’t actually go through with the deactivation at this point, but just notice if there is a serial number there or creative cloud.

The 13.0.3 is a perpetual version update and not the update coming through the creative cloud, Since you have updated to 13.0.3, you will need to uninstall (again unfortunately), then as you reinstall, make sure you register by logging in using your AdobeID (use the email linked to your creative cloud account).
Make sure you’re activated through your creative cloud, then choose Help > Updates — You should see the 13.1.1 update for Photoshop rather than the 13.0.3 update.

You know it is a wonderful program, but within 3 or 4 years it is obsolete, and you have to pay to keep it updated. I find it sort of like bait and switch routine.

will there also be the respective update for Windows users that are not part of the creative cloud?
I checked the Adobe updater and it did not offer any updates for my version, I´m getting confused about which is the current version for Windows perpetual users ( as per the update page?) – so how do I get the non-destructive liquify tool with Smart Filter?

Thanks – P.

Hi Pete, if you’re a perpetual customer, then is the latest version. Because of accounting rules, features can only be added each major version for perpetual license customers who pay a one time fee (although bug fixes can be released as ‘dot’ releases).

Under the same accounting rules, customers who pay a monthly fee can receive feature updates at any time.

You could see the new features at the next major release of CS(next) – but we really can’t talk about future releases at this time.

    Hi Pete,

Yes, the latest Windows non-subscription version number still shows 13.0.1 (but really
The Smart object features for Liquify and Blur gallery are available for Creative Cloud subscribers –

I see the update, but cannot install it. It can be downloaded, but fails right at 98-99% installed.

I receive the message “The download appears corrupted. Press Cancel, wait a few minutes and try again. (U44M1I208)”

I’ve been trying for two days, and get the same result.

I downloaded trial of Creative Cloud for Photoshop CS6. I then purchased the perpetual DVD for PS CS6 and entered the serial number to License This Software. All worked fine for a couple of weeks, then I started getting “Your Trial Is Expired” dialog from Adobe Application Manager. I click “License This Software”, enter my serial number, and all works fine for a couple of days, then “Your Trial Is Expired” comes back. I tried Adobe Support Chat, and they told me this is a known bug in 13.0.3. Can you confirm that, and if so, is there an ETA for a fix? If not, any suggestions to fix this problem would be appreciated.

I am using OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.

Sorry. This is a known issue the activation team is working to address ASAP:

Trial screen displays when you open Photoshop CS6:

I expect a fix very shortly.

I got 13.0.4 tonight. Thank you!

Still getting that myself. really can’t understand why the creative cloud subscription and the applications such as Illustrator and Photoshop and Dreamweaver (these are ones I use a lot) can’t work out that I am on a subscription or at least assume that from the previous logs of subscription tests and that we are not on a trial or our activation hasn’t been processed or we have only 2 days to go before the end of our active trial or a multiple of other messages that pop up every once in a while during the course of the creative cloud subscription. It just looks plain amateurish to have the applications displaying those sorts of messages. It should display a message either based on analysis of usage logs (that I was a creative cloud member a week or so, and perhaps I am still a member but just not connected to the net ..) or just a message saying “please connect to the web so we can determine your usage / subscription / trial status” and then allow for me to connect to the web. I don’t mind connecting to the web for this to be checked, just wish it didn’t pop up with such random messages such 2 days to go before trial end etc.

The creative cloud products are wonderful to use but please improve the subscription messaging.

Are you saying that you can’t see the 13.1.2 update? or that you’re seeing a Trial dialog each time you launch?

Our whole office is having issues with photoshop and illustrator blinking when zooming and working with shapes. The canvas itself will go black but when you start working or zooming again it will finally go back. It is really hard to get precise measurements when the canvas goes black.

could you please post in the forum linked earlier? It will be easier to troubleshoot your issue there!

I just upgrade from perpetual user to creative cloud, but my photoshop cs6 is still in 13.0.4, and when I click help/updates or launch adobe applications manager, both shows my photoshop is up to date, no 13.1 updates available.

How can I get the 13.1 updates since I’m cloud user now?

    Hi Will,

You will need to deactivate, then uninstall Photoshop using the “Uninstall Adobe Photoshop CS6” alias inside the Photoshop application folder. Then reinstall, sign in using your Adobe ID and then run Help>Updates…

Application not responding whenever I do anything in Photoshop 13.1.2 Creative Cloud. Application Mgr says it’s up to date- how do I download and re-install to try to get rid of this problem? Mac Mini July 2011 version.
It’s been fine till recently.

Is update for Windows version, because update doesn’t work from either CS6 or Adobe Updater

I keep checking and telling cs6 to update. It says all applications up to date. I have been a cc member for 2 mos now and my photoshop says its version 13.0.5. Why isn’t it updating?

13.0.5 is the perpetual update. You’ll have to choose Help>Deactivate. Then uninstall CS6 by double-clicking the “Uninstall Adobe Photoshop CS6” icon inside the Photoshop application folder and reinstall. Otherwise, Photoshop CC was released tonight. Choose Help>Updates… to relaunch AAM so it updates itself.
