Getting Started with Adobe Presenter: Editing Videos

Guest post by Kevin Siegel, Founder and President, IconLogic, Inc.

During my last post I wrote about how you can import videos into an Adobe Presenter project. But what if, after inserting a video and Previewing, you discover that there is unwanted content at the beginning or end of the video? You’ll be happy to learn that Presenter offers a wonderfully simplistic way to edit inserted videos (without having to leave Presenter and start a third-party video editing tool).

On the Adobe Presenter tab, Insert group, click the Video drop-down menu and choose Edit.

Getting Started with Adobe Presenter: Scenes, Characters and Scenarios

Guest post by Kevin Siegel, Founder and President, IconLogic, Inc.

Often times the hardest part about creating an eLearning course is getting started. Many people struggle with the look and feel of the individual lessons, quality images, and workable scenarios. You’ll be happy to learn that Adobe Presenter provides some wonderful tools that will help get your eLearning course jump-started. I’m talking specifically about Presenter’s Scenes, Characters and Scenarios.

Scenes

Scenes are helpful when you’re trying to quickly create an eLearning course, but you don’t have the time to draw the background elements to support the slides. To use Presenter’s Scenes, you can begin with something as simple as a brand new PowerPoint presentation. On the Adobe Presenter tab, Insert group, you simply click the Scene tool.

On the Insert Scene dialog box, you can select Continue reading…

What is a Flipped Classroom and How Can It Help Me?

Child standing upside downFlipped Classroom (sometimes called flipped teaching) is an approach to education that blends both online instruction and offline learning. Generally in Flipped Classrooms the online learning is done with videos and quizzes offered offline and this gives the teacher more time to spend engaging directly with learners in activities and exercises during class.

It earned the name ‘Flipped’ because traditional in class activities (like lecture) are moved to homework time, and traditional homework activities, are moved to the class meeting time. The advantage of this Continue reading…

Creating and adding Custom Scenario Interactions in Adobe Presenter 9

Adobe Presenter Senario InteractionsScenarios and near-real stories add life to eLearning courses and make the content look and sound more meaningful. It also makes it easy for the students to understand concepts by looking at the examples and taking decisions in the scenario. They get a perfect simulated environment to practice the skills or modify behavior and the best part with scenario-based learning is that they are allowed to make mistakes and learn from them, without causing any harm whatsoever.

In spite of these benefits, you will find very few people creating scenario-based courses. Most of them rather settle for information-heavy eLearning courses. They confess that they understand the value of creating a scenario-based course, but they opt for a page-turner as it takes a lot of effort and time to design and build scenarios. So to lessen the burden for eLearning developers, we’ve introduced scenario templates in Adobe Presenter 9 which can be used to build decision points inside an eLearning course. It’s pretty easy to use these templates. Watch this short video to learn about the workflow: Continue reading…

Topic: Moving from Knowledge Hoarding to Knowledge Sharing with Adobe Presenter Video Creator

Date and time: Wednesday, 17th July, 2013 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM US/Pacific

Description: There is a fundamental problem that exists in the typical business workplace today. Chances are that you or someone in your office is already painfully aware of it. We’ve seen an explosion in the number of people whose jobs are directly related to their expertise, and for whom ‘what they know’ has become a kind of ‘insurance’ plan.

Have you ever heard a colleague proclaim “If I’m the only one who knows how to do this, ‘they’ can never fire me.”

We’ve all heard similar comments and perhaps even nodded along, or said the words ourselves. But what is the actual cost of this kind of environment of knowledge hoarding. Research in fact suggests that it cuts much deeper than just the upfront issues with bottle necks and heavy retraining costs. The most serious costs of a knowledge hoarding culture are that the institution is stifled when it comes to innovation.

In this session Dr. Allen Partridge will share research on Knowledge sharing and demonstrate how Adobe Presenter Video creator can close the technology gap and facilitate a knowledge sharing culture in your organization.
