my updater in elements 11 is not picking the 7.4 raw plug as an update , it says I am up to date ,but I cannot be as I have not downloaded it yet?

  2. Garry says:

Some users are able to update but some are seeing this…can you try after some time as it seems like the server is highly overloaded and might not be allowing enough downloads…I was able to do on two of my machines…please wait and try after some hours else will share alternate tomorrow..

  3. Jon_t says:

will do, I just tried again and got the same message ,so will try tomorrow
    thanks Jon

  4. Joyce Deckler says:

Adobe Application Manager says “The update server is not responding…” There is an Adobe Application Manager for the Creative Cloud which seems to be a different program. The one that is with Elements seems confused. I have consistently had trouble keeping both Elements and regular photohop on the same computer. I’ve had conflicts before. It’s like they never conswidered both of these programs might be installed, like it never occurred to them to test compatibility.

How or wherre could I download Camera Raw 7.4 for my Photoshop Elements 11 because my “pho” computer is NOT connect to internet ?
Is there a package to download somewhere ?

    Thank you !

      Hi Chris,
I have updated the blog with links to directly download and update.

      • Johan Fourie says:

        Hi There

I have Elements 11 and downloaded from the link provided. On running it, it came up with a message stating that I had to download the latest Application Manager. I did this and installed it. Ran the update again and know it tells me that this update is not meant for my version of Photoshop.

I see this as having 1 of to causes. I also have Elements 10 installed side by side with 11 and this check might be picking up Elements 10 instead of 11. Or the downloaded file is meant for CS and not for Elements 11?

        Any suggestions?

        • Garry says:

          Hi Johan,
I ran it myself , the downloaded files and it updated my PSE11 ACR version.

          Try this approach:
          -Launch Photoshop Elements.
          -Click on Editor.
          -Click on Help->Updates.
You should be able to get the updates from here as well if there is some issue with any other way..

  8. dw says:

Does this work with the Mac App Store version of PSE11 Editor?

    • Garry says:

Unfortunately Apple does not allow Updates via any other application and ACR gets updated via Adobe Application Manager on desktop which is a different updater app hence this can not be done for PSE 11 MAS build.

      • dw says:

So when you buy PSE 11 from MAS you’re stuck with ACR 7.2 ? Would be nice if Adobe would outline in MAS app description that this version of PSE is outdated.

        • Garry says:

PSE is still 11. It would be ACR plugin which would not be updated. Also if you buy latest camera which needs new ACR pluging then you are stuck else if you have any of the cameras which is supported till ACR 7.2 you are good to go..

  9. su says:

I had the same problem after purchasing a copy of Elements 11. When I tried “Help” and then “Updates” it only allowed me to choose a very old version of ACR (version 6.7!!!). The problem was that Photoshop Elements itself needed to be updated. If you encounter this problem, click on updates for Photoshop Elements and not for Camera Raw. It should then automatically update Elements to include the latest ACR version (in this case version 7.4). Hope this works!

  10. I have scoured the net, and I can not uncover the digicam raw plug in for Adobe Photoshop seven. any where. The only kinds obtainable for obtain from are the newer plug ins for Photoshop CS (the most recent getting digicam uncooked four.2). I have located inbound links to what made use of to be the plug ins for Photoshop 7., but the link is damaged and the web page no lengthier exists.

Be sure to Be sure to Please can someone tell me wherever I can download the camera raw plug in for Photoshop seven.?!?!?! I use Photoshop as my most important picture editing computer software and I need to be ready to edit my Uncooked data files from my Canon XTi making use of Photoshop seven. Proper now it acknowledges neither the *.CR2 (Canon proprietary) nor the Adobe-converted *.dng (electronic unfavorable) data files.

Make sure you aid! Many thanks!

  13. Having successfully enabled Camera RAW, thanks to Garry’s help, I now find that when using the Save command I am presented with the Save As menu with an indecipherable code for proposed location which I assume relates to the images position within iPhoto.

How do I get the Save command to activate Save and not Save As?

    • Garry says:

      Hi Michael,

There is preference setting which controls the saving behavior. Under Edit->Preferences->Saving Files you can find ‘On First Save’ which by default is ‘Ask if Original’. You can change it to ‘Save Over current file’ and check.
Also in usual workflow it will prompt save as dialog when you save for the first time. If you continue editing and save second time in same session it will not prompt for save as dialog box again.
      Hope it helps..

I received a new camera on april 4th Nikon D7100. I have always been able to pre-view my RAW files, with my D3100 and D7000 with no problem. Now I can not, I only see the small thumnail on the bottom of the page. I have up-dated Elements 11 and still can’t preview them. Any one else having this problem. I also have some freinds that bought the D800 and they can not pre-view their files either.

Need Help with opening Raw files from my D7100 Nikon. I have always been able to pre-view my other RAW-NEF files with my D3100 and D7000.

  16. Vince Lusk says:

I have PS Elements 11 for Mac and it shows that I have Camera RAW 7.4. but as a plug-in of course. My question is that the Camera RAW 7.4. on my program only has 3 editing tabs to work with but I noticed in a photography magazine that he had twice as many editing tabs that allowed you to edit a lot more options, i.e. (color channels, etc.) Why do I only have 3 tabs on my Camera RAW 7.4 and what do I have to do in order to get the full version of Camera RAW so I can have more editing options? My camera is a Canon EOS 5D Mark II. Thank you.

    • Garry says:

The Camera Raw functionality in Photoshop Elements is less than what is there in full Photoshop. Hence, the difference you are seeing.
Not all the functionalities of full camera raw is exposed in PSE as it is targeted towards not so pro professionals and photographers and most of the tabs which are not there like channels etc those functionalities are also not available in PSE and hence the tabs have not been made visible in PSE.
      Hope it helps.

  17. Matthew says:

I just bought a Canon SL1 and downloaded a trial version of Elements 11.
Photoshop Camera Raw 7.4 Update is not shown when I got to Updates under Help.
Application Manager says all my applications are up to date, but ACR plug-in is not displayed as
plug-in and I can not open the CR2 raw files that my camera produces.
Is it the trial version that is the problem?

  18. crystal says:

I am trying to update but I keep getting a box telling me to close ElementsAutoAnalyzer.exe I don’t know what to do because I cannot find that anywhere on my computer. Please help!

  19. Thomas says:

I can not in any way get Camera Raw to work in PSE11. It has been a joke. I’ve downloaded it several times and it will not work! It is on my Windows 7 run computer but does not show in PSE11. Very typical Adobe software. Overpriced without virtually any support! The edit mgr on PSE11 just sits spinning for hours after asking for updates. I shouldn’t have bought the Nikon D7001 without the ability to use it in NEF. Thanks Adobe!

  20. Rupok says:

Okay, first of all I am a new user of photoshop. I want to open my cr2 raw images in photoshop. Which one can I use?? CS or elements? and which versions? I downloaded cs8 but then it says i need an application manager! when i downloaded the application manager than it says the rw plug in is not compatible. Can someone please guide me through?? 🙁

  21. Garry says:

Both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements have raw file support. SInce you are using CS8 which I presume is a real old version and latest ACR (adobe camera raw) plugins are not supported on this so you might not be able to import formats.
Alternatively please browse here and see more details
    Hope it helps.

  22. Colin Freeman says:

Unable to get camera raw 7.4 and just like others I get server unavailable when I check for updates. Yes I have tried numerous times over numerous days and it is getting very frustrating now. Trying to find a manual way of doing it just sends you around in a even more frustrating circle and 7.4 for Elements 11 cannot be found. I am unable to load my Panasonic G6 raw2 files – so far not a good customer experience

  23. Colin Freeman says:

Tried unloading Elements and reloading and under “Help” checked for latest updates but still no updates because the server is unavailable – no surprise there then! I have manually downloaded 7.4 on to my lap-top un the .exe file but still unable see the7.4 version of plug-in. Under the “Help” in editor the version of plugin for camera raw still states Just what step am I missing??

  24. Mike Hanson says:

I am having the same issues other are having. I can not down load the 7.4 version of the RAW processor, I used the process as defined in previous blogs. I receive no server busy messages or any messages just the message “Checking for updates” and the busy bar show it is still searching and has not found nothing after 10 minutes.

    What next?

  25. jennifer says:

i want to cry. i don’t understand any of this… i just bought the mark ii and I have PSE 6. I WANT THE EASIEST SOLUTION REGARDLESS OF WHAT IT COSTS! If I upgrade to PSE 11, then do the instructions above (click on editor, etc), will I be able to read my RAW files.
I lied a little, I don’t want to have to purchase a version of real PS… cause I just barely use it.

Any help I would so appreciate. I have a shoot tomorrow and ???

  26. Garry says:

Each of PSE version can exist individually. So if you wish to keep both PSE6 and PSE11 you can do it.

I would say just download trial from and try to use it for your need.
PSE 11 supports ACR formats via ACR plugin and is there by default. However as ACR plugins updates you can update the same in PSE as well even after buying PSE via Help->updates whenever its available.

The above steps are when you have old ACR version and as new version comes you can update. The above steps helps users to know how to update.

    Hope it helps.
