MSN Video is all Flash.

In case anyone hasn’t been to MSN Video lately I just wanted to point out that MSN Video is now all served up using Video for Flash (FLVideo). Considering all the hype around SilverLight and its supposedly killer video capabilities its interesting to see all the support we are getting from Microsoft :). I will not make any conclusions based on this, but you are free to make your own…

The market choose ubiquity regardless of feature set here. Flash video files can be produced by a wide variety of tools, including open-source tools on the server side – which makes it more accessible to the market, and the player is widely deployed. But lets not base relevance on a popularity contest.By the way, is the move to vendor-neutral codecs like H.264 support a move preparing for an eventual open-sourcing of flash player run-time in 2008? Is Adobe ready to beat Moonlight+Silverlight to the punch on an open runtime?

Well i’ve just seen a presentation done by microsft here at my company, and they showed most of the cool examples in youtube. Mainly because their labs are pretty closed to outsiders. But i honestly think that as standart, and that’s what standarts are, not the best solution the most widespread, flash will mantain it’s dominance.Btw, congrats on FOTB.
