Lightroom 5 now available for Upgrade, Purchase or Creative Cloud Subscription

Lightroom 5 is now fully available as a product to either upgrade from an existing version, to purchase as a new imaging solution or, if you are already on an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription (not part of the single app subscription), you can access Lightroom 5 straight away and download from your available applications. You buy/upgrade the software from the Adobe Store here. To get you started  I also put together a deep dive on the new features available on my YouTube channel.

No Photoshop and Lightroom bundle? I guess they forgot about the hobbyist/non-profit photographer again. Maybe I’ll hold my breath (turning blue already) waiting for some news…..

If you are a NAPP member don’t forget a possible discount on a purchase/upgrade.

I am a CC subscriber. When I log into CC it only has LR4 available?? Where is 5??

There should be either an update to Lightroom available via the App Manager or the ability to download the new application. Also, when in http://creative.adobe.com you will see the Lightroom app, if you click on download it should download Lightroom 5. I have just tried it and LR5 was installed as part of the process.

I just purchased Lightroom 4. How do I get the free upgrade to ver 5?

  4. Terri says:

I bought LR4 through the MAC APP store so it would be licensed on both my computers. Is the upgrade to LR5 going to be offered in the APP store? I see that they have removed LR4 and LR5 is not there.

I have LR4 but I am trying to change all of my apps to Mac App Store apps for the convenience of multiple machines and easy upgrades ect. I am waiting for LR5 to show up in the Mac App Store so I can purchase it.
Am I going to wait forever because Adobe will not be putting there? If that is the case then they should announce this so people like me could consider purchasing outside of the store, or just switching to Aperture.
Would like to know. If it is just a week or two then I will wait, but if they are no longer going to sell it through the Mac App Store, then tell us please.

    Hi

I am trying to purchase online and download an upgrade for Lightroom 4 to Lightroom 5. I have not been able to find a way to do that.

  7. Stefan says:

    Hi,

I own a full version of Lightroom 3 and have purchased an Upgrade version of Lightroom 4 when it came out. Will I be allowed to purchase another Upgrade version of LR5 or do I have to buy the full version? Where can I find about such limitations when it comes to upgrades.

    Thanks
    Stefan

    Hi Richard,
I have LR4. I clicked on the link above in your first post and select upgrade, then check-out, it keeps saying my cart is empty or refer me to Create Cloud when I login with my email.

Is it possible to upgrade to LR5 without CC membership? How? It seems all signs point to CC membership even for apps trials

If you keep only getting Lightroom 4, it’s probably because you don’t meet the system requirements for Lightroom 5. I just realized this was my problem. I have Mac OS X 10.6, while Lightroom 5 requires Mac OS X 10.7 or higher. The system requirements for Lightroom are here: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom/tech-specs.edu.html
