MAX 2009 lab available

As promised in my previous post, you will find details below to run the MAX 2009 lab titled 'LiveCycle for Service Orchestration' on your own environment. Obviously this requires some preparation on your end and we assume your environment is Windows 2003 (the lab has not been tested and/or deployed on any other environment):

Install LiveCycle ES2 JBoss Turnkey on your environment. Visit the Adobe prerelease site in case you don't have the prerelease version

Install Acrobat 9.x on your environment

Install Eclipse (the 'Ganymede' version)

Install MySQL 5.x Tools (note that the MySQL database server itself comes with the LiveCycle ES prerelease)

Install Baretail in case you want to monitor your log files

]]> After you have installed all required software, take the LabFiles.zip and unzip the contents to your C:\ drive. You will see a MAX09L34 folder containing all the required lab files and a medicalcheck.sql file that you can use within MySQL Browser (part of the MySQL Tools) to create the database used in the lab.

Finally, you need the the LiveCycle ES for Service Orchestration Lab Instructions.pdf.

Warning: you might run into issues one way or another; there is no way we can control the lab environment as we did for MAX 2009. But in case you're stuck, let me know and I will try to help you out.

Just delivered my lab on "LiveCycle for Service Orchestration". No major hickups though it was a bit much to do in 1.5 hours. Therefor I will make the material available for doing the lab on your own LiveCycle ES 2 environment.

Bear with me and I will provide more details in the upcoming days.

It's been a while since I blogged, but now I have an obvious reason to do so :)

I will be on MAX 2009 this year (which will be held in Los Angeles from October 4-7) hosting a lab session with the title 'LiveCycle ES for Service Orchestration'.

]]> The official description of this session is:
In this session you will learn about the LiveCycle ES architecture (the foundation upon which services are built), invocation mechanisms, integration of services (custom components) within LiveCycle ES processes, management of user roles, the SOA GUI, real-world user experiences, form guides, custom apps, and more.

But what does this all really means?
You will get hands on in buiding a process around document-centric services we offer as part of LiveCycle ES, as well amend that process with out of the box generic services.
The lab will also teach you how to incorporate your own plain old Java functionality into a LiveCycle ES service and use that in your process. Last but not least you will get your hands dirty on how to expose all this functionality to end users using LiveCycle ES Workspace as well as other ways to invoke your newly built process.

I'm still preparing the lab session, so as long as it is not finished (which must be pretty soon though due to the strict MAX 2009 session preparation guidelines) input is appreciated.

I'm looking forward to see you in my lab which will be held on Monday October 5th from 2.30pm to 4pm.

About Me - An Introduction

It's finally here, my public blog for Adobe. I started just about 5 months ago working for Adobe in the Netherlands in what looks like a very exciting period in both my career and Adobe's history (both are not necessarily connected b.t.w.) and sofar I've been that busy, I have not yet had the time to properly set up this blog.

I joined Adobe as a technical architect after having worked for the last couple of years for PTC/Arbortext as solution architect, mainly focusing on enterprise publishing solutions. Before that, I worked most of my career at HP, focusing on middleware technologies and business process management. Within that HP period, I even stepped out for a year to work for Macromedia (we're talking beginning of the century) but enterprise business was not yet high on Macromedia's radar screen, hence my return to HP in 2001.

]]> How different it is these days for Adobe. Being involved mostly with the LiveCycle ES technology stack but not neglecting the Flex spectrum of products (LiveCycle Data Services ES to name an example), I see the vast opportunities of merging this enterprise solution stack with the magnificent Adobe technologies (AIR, Flex) to build real rich enterprise Applications. That is what I want to blog about in general; more specifically I want to inform you on what I experience and learn during projects, meeting customers, working with colleagues, visiting conferences, etc.

B.t.w. did I mention visiting conferences? Did I mention I will visit MAX2007 in Chicago? What a great way to get this blog starting. More to come for sure... :)
