Speed Tests between Adobe Captivate 4 and Adobe Captivate 5 [VIDEO]

By now, you probably know that we have announced Adobe Captivate 5, and in case you haven’t watched a video I posted on Monday on why I love the new User Interface (UI) and why I think you will, too, I highly recommend you do before watching this new one.

In rewriting Captivate from the ground up, one of the resulting benefits is the significant speed improvements gained from using newer technologies. Our product management team commissioned Human Factors International, Inc., to conduct a comparative test to quantify productivity gains in standard tasks with two versions of Adobe Captivate, version 4 and version 5. Here are some of the highlights of their findings:

These results are pretty compelling and if you are interested, you can read the entire report by HFI in PDF format by clicking HERE.

I decided to conduct my own speed tests using a stopwatch and the results are also fascinating. I conducted the following 4 common tasks, first in Adobe Captivate 4 and then in version 5:

  1. Creating a new Image Slideshow project
  2. Creating a new project from an 18-slide PowerPoint file
  3. Importing a Layered-heavy Photoshop file
  4. Inserting 5 Question slides in a project
