I wish Illustrator had a Package feature like the one in InDesign. Wouldn't it be great to have a menu command that collected all linked graphics and fonts for an Illustrator file? Until that day, you can do two things:

1. If this kind of functionality is important to you, let the Illustrator team know by submitting a feature request at http://www.adobe.com/support/feature.html.

2. Check out third-party solutions...

There are so many books about computers, technology, and software that it can be overwhelming to make a choice. There are some great series of books about Adobe software that you're probably already familiar with, but there's a new series from SAMS Publishing that has really caught my eye.

Hurricane Wilma, blowing up from the southwest, is supposed to rendezvous with some sort of weather front that will become what we here in the NY/NJ/CT tri-state area call a Nor’easter. The car service is due to pick me up at 1:45pm and deliver me to Newark Liberty International Airport’s terminal C where I’ll hop on a short Continental Airlines flight to Rochester.

Slick Trick: Creating PDF Bookmarks

"All PDF is not created equal."

I tell folks this all the time because it's true. One nice touch that can make a PDF much easier to use for on-screen viewing is an intuitive and comprehensive collection of bookmarks. The best way to create PDF bookmarks in an automated way is to export PDF directly from InDesign with the Bookmarks option enabled.

However, I realize that sometimes that part of the process is outside of your control. If the PDF was exported from InDesign with the "Create Tagged PDF" option enabled then you still have a trick up your sleeve. Here's how it goes....
