It’s official – the brand-spanking new redesign of the The Web Standards Project (WaSP) website was launched today at the SXSW open meeting! Jeffrey Zeldman cut the ‘virtual ribbon’ live on stage, and we got to witness the launch up on the projector screen while many of us liveblogged it (like this) in a key-tapping frenzy. You can thank Andy Clarke for the design (although he respectfully asks you blame Andy Budd instead, if you don’t like it… lol!). Check out the new WaSP site, and most importantly- get involved! Great job, all. I’d rave more, but the meeting’s still going on… ;-)

The site isn’t available to those outside of SXSW yet. “Technical difficulties’ and such ;) I wish I could have been there to see the launch though…

D’oh! My bad, I was most definitely on the SXSW network at the time. Well, it’s quite impressive a redesign (IMHO), hopefully it’ll be up and live shortly. Too bad you couldn’t make it to SXSW, Jesse- would have loved to catch up with ya!

Well if you are in Toronto for Flash in the Can I will have to come to town for a few beer!

ah! it was only available on the local network? But on the WWW the site has been completely vacant the last 24 hours… blank page or directory listing. There was big outrage awhile back over some ecommerce site which went dark for awhile during an upgrade… is it intended that this site go dark while previewing it to conference attendees, or did something go wrong…?

Technical difficulties, says Jesse- but I’m getting the old site right now at the expected URL, so it was likely just a preview…

It was up working about an hour after all this chatter ;) Luckily not my problem to deal with but it was well worth the wait!

Ah yes- I’m getting it now externally as well! Thanks for the heads-up, Jesse. (And yes- we will have to tip a few at FITC- I’m currently planning to head up for that conference too!)Definitely worth the wait, eh? Not that I’m being overly critical of the old site layout/design, but Andy’s redesign is much easier on the eyes (and the color scheme is FAR more WaSP-esque… :D

[…] A very accosting layout and a interesting discussion topic, do you provide any Web-based services to universities or students. […]- Sorry for the stupid question :-)

Hi, Milos- agreed! I really do like both the design and topics at the WaSP site. However, you’d need to ask them if they provide any services to universities/students- I’m not a member of the WaSP group myself, just a fan. ;-)
