This morning, sitting in the hotel cafe in Berlin, Ellen Wagner, Wayne Hodgins and I were talking about tools, applications, services, legos, the future of learning and of course sailing around the world. We also briefly chatted about the creativity of our users and what they do with our tools without us ever thinking of these possibilities when we developed them. My Google blog alert for "Adobe+Captivate" found another unique usage today.

Aanarav Sareen, a TV editor and producer uses Adobe Captivate 2 for client review. Check out how - it's a pretty neat way of using Adobe Captivate!.

FYI: the eLearning Guild is accepting proposals for the Annual Gathering in April 10-13, 07 in Boston. My Adobe Captivate sessions have been packed there and I am sure they are looking again for intermediate and advanced topics on the tool. If you are a user and have created highly interactive content or business skills training, I recommend to submit a proposal. And please let me know if you submitted. Deadline is tomorrow!!!

I keep getting questions from customers if they are eligible to receive an upgrade if they purchased Macromedia Captivate around the timeframe of the Adobe Captivate 2 announce.
We have all the info on our website - check out the current post-announce upgrades and post-announce upgrade FAQ.

From the site:
If you purchased a previous version of any of the following Adobe products within the dates shown, and you can provide Adobe Customer Service with your proof of purchase (please see proof of purchase qualifications for details on what Adobe accepts as legitimate proof of purchase) then you are eligible for a post-announce upgrade.
Adobe Captivate 2.0
September 5, 2006 to December 4, 2006

Wow - I usually work on Adobe Captivate marketing, content and show others how to use the tool. Just now I experienced the other side - I had tried a while ago to hook up Contribute 4 to our this blog service and couldn't figure out what I am doing wrong. I had received multiple emails with steps and info - never got it to work.

Through an internal email list I received my answer: in form of a demo. It was so great! I didn't have to read anything, just followed along the steps and easily figured out where I made a mistake originally (forgot to set up some password in the blogging service - had no clue what it is from looking at the UI). Within three minutes I had Contribute up and running with our service and I am very very happy :)  No more HTML code to format my blog entries *yay*

Thanks Contribute team for creating the demo!

I didn't have a chance to go to MAX in APAC this year but Kevin Lin, author of an Adobe Captivate book, posted some pics on his blog. Thanks Kevin :)
I went there two years ago when we released Macromedia Captivate and it was an unforgettable trip. MAX conferences are fun and they are packed w/ great sessions!

I took a few days off without blogging - and can now finally blog about our win since I see the official winner's list for the Brandon-Hall Excellence in eLearning Awards posted.
And it's exciting - Adobe Captivate 2 won silver in the Learning Technology Category, only a few weeks after shipping! I developed an online piece for the judges early this year with an alpha version and the time and effort was well worth it. The team has done a great job building an award-winning product.

Now I am interested in seeing award winning content created with Adobe Captivate. Please let me know if your learning content (especially if it's created w/ version 2) has received any awards. There are many places where you can submit: Brandon-Hall, ASTD, STC, etc.
