LiveCycle Collaboration Service for Enterprise Applications

afps.jpg

Adobe Flash Platform is increasingly adding new services that allow you to build rch Enterprise Applications. The Flash Platform Services make it possible to add collaboration features, distribution features and options that allow you to sell AIR applications using try & buy functionality.

Gartner recently released a research note about the Flash Collaboration Services. A quote from this report:
Adobe will likely become the first vendor to offer cloud-based component collaboration services that can be integrated into business applications. For example, an enterprise could create a training tool for sales agents where the students act as customers to help each other improve skills for customer interaction and upselling.

Building RIA’s for force.com

salesforce_desktop_overview_800.jpg
If you are already building applications into the Salesforce cloud you have new tools available to build Rich Internet Applications.
Salesforce.com and Adobe on Monday announced an alliance that brings the Adobe Flash platform to Salesforce’s Force.com, where developers build — and often share — business apps for the cloud.
The apps built using Adobe Flash Builder for Force.com can be easily deployed to users through the browser using the Adobe Flash Player or directly to the desktop via Adobe AIR.
Adobe Flash Builder for Force.com is available today as a developer preview. The full release is expected to be released in the first half of 2010.

Setting Web applications free

Thumbnail image for Open Screen Logo
At Adobe MAX this year there was a lof of news about the Open Screen Project that Adobe initiated last year. Firstly, leading companies announced support for the project including RIM and Google. They join current members Cisco, Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Toshiba, and many more. The goal of the initiative is to disseminate rich, attractive online experiences for any device and operating system.
With the amount of available digital content exploding onto all types of screens, customer demand for appealing experiences is increasing at an equally torrid pace. Up until now, however, the disparate technologies involved have left these expectations unfulfilled.
The Open Screen Project aims to break down such barriers by means of a consistent runtime environment. Based on Adobe Flash — and in the future, Adobe AIR.
Adobe Flash and AIR make it easy to present interactive Web content, Flash animations, RIA applications and videos both live and on-demand on television and computer screens, mobile devices, and consoles. In addition, the runtime technology’s ability to automatically self-update on mobile devices dramatically reduces the effort required from developers and designers. For this reason, the Open Screen Project has also garnered the support of content providers such as the BBC, MTV Networks, and NBC Universal.
Adobe Flash technology now even more accessible
Adobe is supporting the Open Screen Project not only by constantly advancing the Flash platform, but by waiving the license fees for Flash Player and AIR, as well. The new release of Adobe Flash 10.1, will be the first full Flash player for mobile devices and PCs including Windows® Mobile, Palm® WebOS, Google® Android™, RIM Blackberry® and Symbian® OS. Flash Player 10.1 is the first consistent runtime release of the Open Screen Project that enables uncompromised Web browsing of expressive applications, content and high definition (HD) videos across devices.

SoDA: Flash/ActionScript skills most in demand

SoDA Report 2009.jpg

“As the dark clouds of the economy envelope the marketing world, many wonder if digital marketing may be a ray of sunshine in the gloom. To find out, the Society of Digital Agencies conducted a broad survey of traditional and digital agencies as well as brands, digital vendors and even freelance digital experts.

Digital agencies are bullish on their success riding out the economic downturn with 91% of international agencies surveyed by the Society of Digital Agencies (SoDA), claiming that there will be the same or more digital marketing work in 2009.
While brands are reducing their digital work forces, the work found that in agency land headcount for digital staffers  is rising with 47% of agencies currently hiring digital personnel. Adobe products dominate the required  solutions sets for the digital marketing industry with Dreamweaver, Flash and Flex the preferred tools of choice. Flash and ActionScript skills were also the most in demand for hiring new workers.

Adobe Advocates: Zuhlke – video interview

We have just published a video interview with Adobe Solution Partner Zuhlke about a project they did for Swiss bank DSwiss. D Swiss is a different bank from many others – they specialize in keeping ultra-secure information assets through internet services.
Zuhlke used Adobe Flex to deliver a specific internet service called ’Data Inherit’ which allows D Swiss’ customers to upload sensitive documents like contracts and manuscripts and password-protect them with assigned beneficiaries.
In the interview we hear from Wolfgang Emmerich – CEO of Zuhlke, Walter Hursch – managing partner of Zuhlke and Tobias Christen who is the D Swiss CTO. They talk about consumerization of IT, why Zuhlke partners with Adobe, why they chose Flex to build this project and many other topics.
The video interview is almost 19 minutes in total but you can click through the questions of your interest using the menu to the right of the video.

Introducing LiveCycle Workspace ES2 Mobile

This is a repost from Mobile Matters

Announced today, LiveCycle® Workspace ES2 Mobile, for the iPhone®, BlackBerry® smartphones and Windows® Mobile smartphones, helps organizations save time and money with faster electronic approvals.
When approval tasks only show up in email, they tend to become a needle in a haystack depending on the amount and quality of email received.  The LiveCycle mobile application provides a dedicated task list “inbox” on the device where people can easily view tasks that have been directly assigned or delegated to them.  The delegation view is ideal for shared queues or providing vacation coverage.
Tasks can now be quickly found while on the go, so expenses, purchase requests, invoices, contracts, vacation requests, escalations, and other HR, IT, Legal, and Finance documents and forms can all be quickly approved using an authenticated click through electronic signature on the mobile device.
LiveCycle Process Management ES2 natively supports these new mobile clients and can significantly increase the agility of workers who already face the prospect of multiple approval processes throughout their day.*

Avoka SmartForm Composer for Adobe LiveCycle ES

This is a repost from Greg Wilson’s blog

LiveCycle ES plays a larger role this year at Adobe MAX than in previous years. There are sessions, labs, pre-conference labs (sold out!) and tons of information about LiveCycle.
In addition to all of Adobe’s activity, I wanted to make you aware of something new from one of our partners, Avoka Technologies called SmartForm Composer that will be on display at MAX at booth #434. I’ve seen a few demos of this new product and found it to be quite impressive! SmartForm Composer is a web-based Flex application that makes it easy to build PDF forms. With Composer, you simply select one of our pre-defined templates, and quickly build an interactive Adobe XFA compliant PDF SmartForm that looks great and work with LiveCycle ES.
Avoka has put together a great video demo..  check it out!
