Publishing Captivate demos to Kindle using RoboHelp

With Adobe RoboHelp 9, you can create EPUB-content and distribute to different devices. You can make Adobe Captivate demos and interactive quizzes available on devices by embedding them in RoboHelp projects.

Here are the instructions to get Captivate demos on Amazon Kindle using RoboHelp:

  1. Insert the Captivate SWF file in your RoboHelp project.
  2. Generate an ePub output of the RoboHelp project.
  3. Preview the ePub output in Adobe Digital Editions (ADE).
  4. After previewing the project in ADE, upload it to the Amazon Kindle store using your Amazon account.

There seems to be a really important step missing here. Last time I checked Kindle doesn’t support ePub documents so the whole idea sort of falls apart at the end.

Epub files cannot be ‘transferred’ to a Kindle device directly.

The last step in the demo mentions that you have to upload your epub file to the Kindle store. When you upload the file, the epub file is automatically converted to a Kindle-compatible format. You can then download the project/file from the store onto the device.
