SDL AuthorAssistant is not a stand-alone application. But since it is a plug-in for FrameMaker, you have to download and install it separately.
Go to the following URL to download SDL AuthorAssistant:
http://www.adobe.com/go/FM_AuthorAssistant/
This page also lists the system requirements, installation instructions, and the licensing agreement.
See the SDL Author Assistant Installation Guide available in the installation folder for detailed installation procedures.
After you have downloaded and installed the SDL AuthorAssistant plug-in, a menu option, SDL AuthorAssistant, is added to the FrameMaker menu bar. This menu option appears only when you are in the Document view as opposed to the Resource Manager view (book window).
An icon is also added to the Windows system tray. You can configure the server setup, cache files from the server, and set up synchronization schedules from the system tray menu.

We are currently using FrameMaker 8.0 for authoring. Is the SDL AuthorAssistant compatible with FM 8.0 as well?
