Seamless update

InDesign now supports automatic as well as manual migration of local settings from previous release to current release.

  • Customizable object width and height in CSS: You can now customize the height and width of an object in a CSS file in the Object Export Options dialog box.
  • Improved CSS support for table and cell styles: Table and cell styles now get mapped appropriately to the CSS.
  • Enhanced metadata controls: You can update the file info or metadata of your InDesign file and the same EPUB data gets populated in both Reflowable/Fixed Layout tabs.
  • New EPUB type markup: Additional accessibility support in EPUB through epub:type attribute.

You can now create and manage color groups in InDesign. Simply create Color Groups from the Swatches panel through the new Color Group icon or from the flyout and context menu.

Will installing Indesign CC 2014 replace the existing Indesign CC on my computer, or is CC kept and I can use both?
It would be a heck of en effort to need virtualisisation for using both.

It’ll keep both, you can use the one you need.
The file association for .indd files will change to the latest version, so double-clicking a file will open the file in the latest version. That’s the only caution I can think of. All the rest is pretty seamless.

Hi. Is there a way to copy and paste individual objects accurately between ID CC 9.2 to ID CC 2014? I often use text and graphics from previous documents and this doesn’t seem to work with ID CC 2014. For example, I copied a text box and an empty graphic box together from ID CC 9.2 and when I pasted to a ID CC 2014 document, they appeared as one lowres object with no editable content.
