I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble. If you have Adobe Reader 9 installed, we recommend upgrading to Adobe Reader X. You can download the latest version of Adobe Reader here:

If you’ve got Adobe Acrobat 9 installed, we recommend updating to Acrobat 9.5. You can update Acrobat via Help > Check for Updates.

Im trying to send an email for approval as part of a workflow process, however I can not see that option under my comments menu. I am currently using a trial version of acrobat 9. Will this option appear when I buy the full license option or am I looking in the wrong place? Thanks for you help.

[Tom – Functionality will not change between the Trial and Full versions. If you’d like to distribute a PDF file and have your colleagues put comments on that PDF file, such as their signature or an “Approved” stamp, please check out Comments > Send for Shared Review, as shown here. – Dave]

I am using headers and footers for a long document in Acrobat 8 (and now 9.1). I use multiple sets of h/f in one document in order to have different headers for different sections. Is there a way to access these several h/f sets for editing one of them. The Help says Update accesses only the latest set; in fact it accesses only the earliest, so that is the only one I can edit. The h/f feature desperately needs a way to access any one of them. Am I missing something?
    thank you.

[Hale emailed and said that he found the Saved Settings featue within Headers/Footers. Glad it solved your problem, Hale. – Dave]

I downloaded Adobe 9.1 update and now when I open any .pdf file I receive an error message and the file closes. I cannot keep a .pdf file open now but just a few seconds and then the error message comes up and down it goes. What can I do?

[Carol – It would probably be best if you contacted Support to further trouble shoot what’s happening. See link above. Eventually, they may just recommend you uninstall A9 and then reinstall it, to see if that solves your problem. – Dave]

I wonder which idea, put an acrobat update online, can delete dropdown TRADOS interpreter program menus in MS OFFICE and replaces itself, without user confirmation.

[I’m not quite understanding your issue. But it sounds like maybe you’re reporting a conflict between Acrobat’s Office PDFMaker and another Office plug-in, “TRADOS”? Your best help would come from Adobe Support – see link above. – Dave]

I receive pdf files often and would like to be able to rewrite some of them. I only have Adobe Reader 8 – what do I need to get to be able to rewrite pdf documents? Thanks!

[Larry – With Reader, you can save a PDF as a Text (TXT) file and then edit or rewrite the text. With Acrobat, you can save a PDF as additional file types (such as a Word file or a Rich Text Formatted file) OR you can edit the text on your PDF directly using a tool like the Touch Up Text Tool. – Dave]

The “links on Adobe Acrobat Reader (PDF) documents body” do not work in new IE8.
The links work on IE7, but not with IE8. We tested with different OS versions as well as with different Acrobat Versions. The issue seems to be with IE8. Any fixes?

[Udi – PDF links (links within PDF document) should work, regardless if that PDF was opened in IE7 or IE8. Feel free to open bug – I’ll ask around and see if anyone here has seen this issue. – Dave]

I was wondering, if I have Acrobat 9 Pro, why do I still need the reader? Shouldn’t the software open PDF files without the reader?

[Elayne – If you have Pro, you do not need Reader. It will do everything Reader does (including opening, printing and searching PDF files), plus a whole lot more. Feel free to install Reader only, Pro only or both, depending on what your needs are. – Dave]

How do I go about creating one (1) .pdf file from 35 printed legal sized pages? I do not have the original .doc file. Since they are legal documents, I must retain the recorded numbers added when the original document was filed. I have created 35 .jpg pictures. The online .pdf creation allows only one file to be converted. Will the full Acrobat version do this for me? Thank you, Fred K. Morrow

[Fred – Yes, with the full version of Acrobat, you can combine multiple files (including multiple JPEG files) into a single multi-page PDF file. – Dave]

When you rearrange the pages in a PDF, is there anyway to update or reorder the Bookmarks? You can use the pages tab on the navigation bar to move the page where you want it, but the Bookmarks remain in the same place, you can also move the Bookmarks manually, can this function be automated? Thank You

[DM – Thanks for the comment. I’m not aware of any way to do this. But I’ll ask around and repost here if I find out something. Thanks. – Dave
DM – UPDATE: I don’t believe there is a way to do this automatically in Acrobat. Because bookmarks are virtual references, they are not affected when the pages are moved. There may be 3rd party plug-ins which do this. I would start with a company like EverMap and find out if their software can do this. Good luck. – Dave]

How do I save after highlighting text using acrobat 9??. I get pop up window that says I have to save file in different folder under different name. I usually could edit and save without doing this.

[Rhone – If you have Acrobat 9 (not Reader 9), then you should able to highlight text and save the file with no issues. You should not be prompted to do a Save As. But if you are presented with a Save As choice, you should be able to save in the same folder with the same name (overwriting the original file). If the Save As behavior persists, I’d open a bug here. Good luck. – Dave]

[If you had Acrobat 8 (not Reader 8) and then you installed Acrobat 9, this will uninstall A8 in order to install A9. A8 and A9 cannot co-exist on the same machine. You will need to reinstall A8. Sorry about that. – Dave]
