Adobe Illustrator, The Early Years — Free iPad App

Adobe Illustrator -- The Early Years iPad App













Remember when lines were painstakingly inked and type had to be set and waxed onto board, along with graphics? It all sounds so long ago, but it’s really only the short span of 25 years since Adobe Illustrator revolutionized the graphics arts industry, and in doing so, transformed Adobe from a company focused on PostScript hardware to one focused on application software.

Ton Fredericks, an Adobe senior sales engineer out of Amsterdam, worked together with his brother to create a free iPad app: Adobe Illustrator, the Early Years. The app provides a look into the early years of Illustrator and celebrates the creative freedom that Illustrator has brought to generations of designers and illustrators.

Included are interviews with people central to the development of Illustrator, including Adobe founder John Warnock, and Luanne Seymour, the designer responsible for the iconic Illustrator Venus, along with historic materials from 25 years ago.
