Making a difference

January 30, 2013

Children are impressionable and full of hope. That’s exactly why a team of us from Adobe’s People Resources organization in Bangalore recently visited Sukrupa, a school for underprivileged children. Adobe has had a long-standing relationship with Sukrupa because we’re committed to partnering with them to assist deprived children and young adults with schooling and skills training to enable them to escape poverty, illiteracy, and ignorance.

The team visited Sukrupa with a list of exciting activities in tow. These activities included dancing, singing, arts and crafts, a session around effective communication and how to make our planet a better place.

Two of our Adobe team members, Prayu G.R. and Sumanth R., who were part of the special day were excited to share their experiences with the broader team. “It was wonderful interacting with these energetic and enthusiastic kids. We learnt a lot from them. Their passion and intelligence was mind-blowing. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience for us.”

Another team member, Nancy S., spent most of her time with the eighth graders at Sukrupa who were a fun and talented bunch. “I liked their assertiveness and their appreciation for learning. They are so thankful to have been given the opportunity to learn because they realize that they’re the first generation from their respective families who got the opportunity to attend school.”

The entire Adobe team left feeling enriched by this experience and are looking forward to their next visit. Here are some photos from the day.
