I was asked to share a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes of a Creative Cloud roadshow and why I love what I do. Here’s my perspective.
When you spend a lot of time in the office it’s easy to forget why we do our jobs. But spending a few weeks catching up with customers on the Create Now Roadshow reminds me of why I work for Adobe. Not only do we have cool software, but our customers absolutely love it and can’t wait to rush in and get the best seats in the house to see the latest innovations.
My first roadshow for Adobe was Creative Suite 2.3 and I was invited to come along and help with registrations. From then on, I was hooked. The 2013 Create Now roadshow would be my 10th or 12th creative roadshow and I would hate to guess how many exhibition stands and events I have organized and attended over my time here. I get a buzz every time we crank up the music and open the doors. This year we had over 1,600 customers – who are passionate creative people – come dashing towards us eagerly with their ticket in the air. They are real fans of Adobe who love Photoshop and our creative tools and their excitement never loses its appeal.
We have just completed the Create Now Roadshow across ANZ. For those who don’t understand the extent of our reach, Australia is as wide as North America and we also have to head overseas to service our New Zealand outpost. This time we took 11 flights to cover four events in four cities across two countries in under three weeks. Being on the road has its ups and downs; it means getting up at 5am and getting home late and sometimes we’re just surviving on the buzz of the customers, caffeine and chocolate.
One of the things I love about being on the road is building deeper relationships with some of the very cool people that we work with. I have been fortunate enough to work and travel with members of the team from outside our country too and getting to know them better strengthens our working relationship.
I may be travel weary and glad to see my own bed at the end of three weeks, but I know I can look forward to getting a big cuddle from my little one, if I can get through the door before she flattens me.
