We caught up with Paula P., head of Digital Marketing in Asia Pacific, who recently joined Adobe’s Marketing team. Paula tells us why she decided to join Adobe and shares her career journey as well as her globetrotting experiences.

Adobe Life: Tell us about yourself.

Paula: I am a native All Black supporter (New Zealand national rugby union team) who enjoys traveling to experience different food and then burning it off through energetic pursuits such as running and touch football.

In terms of career, I have more than a decade of experience in technology marketing, and worked in London, UK for five years prior to moving to Sydney, Australia eight years ago. A few months ago, I joined Adobe as a head of marketing in Asia Pacific for the Digital Marketing business based in Sydney. I’m responsible for driving the marketing strategy through thought leadership, executive engagement, and demand programs that support the advancement of the fast-growing Adobe Marketing Cloud business.

Adobe Life: What was the major driver in your decision to join Adobe?

Paula: With a passion for the future of digital, I was inspired to join Adobe’s quest to change the world through digital experiences. Adobe is one of the world’s most aspirational brands, what more can I say?

Adobe Life: What’s been the biggest learning experience for you since joining Adobe?

Paula: Hit the ground running and run hard! And ensure to take my laptop to every meeting.

Adobe Life: What do you enjoy about being part of the Adobe team?

Paula: I really enjoy working with people who are passionate about driving Adobe’s vision for creative and digital innovation. It’s motivating to work with exceptional colleagues who are willing to push the envelope and do things differently.

Adobe Life: What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Paula: As a self-confessed perfectionist, “done is better than perfect” was the best advice I’ve ever received. A couple of big projects in my career have warranted half the time and half the budget without reducing the quality. “Done” has served me well in accomplishing the outcome.

Adobe Life: On a personal note, you’ve recently visited South America. Tell us about the experience.

Paula: I highly recommend adding the Inca Trail and the Galapagos to anyone’s bucket list. I spent three days trekking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. As an avid runner with a few halves and full marathons under my belt, the Dead Woman’s pass was more than a match for me. Altitude comes with its own set of challenges but the views and the experience were priceless.

Enjoying the breathtaking view from up high

The Galapagos was a great place to revive, like the place that time forgot; you could stumble your way over placid wildlife snoozing in the sun like iguanas, sea lions, and giant tortoises. Ten days immersed in bath water (25⁰C+) snorkeling and diving with giant turtles, sharks, rays, sea lions, eels and loads of tropical fish. The close encounters are surreal. The highlight had to be swimming with sea lions and diving with the hammerheads. That tank of air surely didn’t last very long.
