We’re looking to recruit a Roving Reporter for Adobe Summit in London on 24-25 April 2013 – could this be you?!

If you’re up to the task, you will receive a full pass to Europe’s digital marketing conference of the year, including press access (not to mention, the Summit party!).

The Task

  • Live tweet from all keynote presentations and selected breakout sessions
  • Attend our press panels and report back
  • Write wrap-up blogs for day 1 and 2, to be published here on the Adobe Summit blog
  • Capture photos throughout Summit and share on social media

The Requirements

  • You must be social media savvy
  • You have to be passionate and enthusiastic about digital marketing
  • You should have excellent written English (any other European languages are a bonus)
  • You must be available to attend Adobe Summit in London on 24-25 April 2013 (transport & accommodation not included)

Tell us why YOU should be our Summit Roving Reporter. You decide the entry format (the only requirement is that it must be digital) – a blog post, a video, a Pinterest board with examples of your work – the more creative the better! Then tweet us your entry:

AKQA’s Ajaz Ahmed on Adobe Summit, London

We caught up with Ajaz Ahmed, AKQA’s CEO and founder, on what he’s most looking forward to at Adobe Summit in London this year, and what we can expect from his keynote with Stefan Olander, VP, Digital Sport, Nike Global.  Here’s what he had to say:

Adobe Summit 2013 is in the Books!

It’s been two amazing days of Adobe Summit. Entertainment. Inspiration. Learning. A glimpse into the future. And of course, new friends and business contacts.

Trying to sum up all of Summit into a short blog post or two is hard. We captured some of the flavor of Summit in five short videos, so we’ll leave you with those (until EMEA Summit, of course!).

Adobe Summit: Day 1 – A Look Back

This first day of Adobe Summit was intense – in a good way – and full of great news and sessions.

We started the day off with more than 5,000 attendees from all around the world coming together for Brad Rencher’s kickoff keynote, “The Last Millisecond”. Brad, with the assistance of a bunch of Adobe staff members, shared his thoughts on how to improve the customer experience as well as the company bottom line.

The team took us through the end-to-end marketing workflow showcasing all the new features in the five pillars of the Adobe Marketing Cloud. It was a “megademo” that left the crowd very impressed with all the new capabilities of the Adobe Marketing Cloud.

After that, it was time for breakouts to begin. There were far too many to list them all, but Jack Philbin and Jeff Dyer both got a lot of callouts on Twitter for their engaging sessions.

The afternoon was also full of networking and connection building in the Community Pavillion, as well as lunch and coffee time.

The to wind up the business part of the day, Adam Bain of Twitter, John Battelle of Federated Media, and Bill Briggs of Deliotte Digital shared their insights into the world of ditial media today and into the future.

Guest Post: Adobe Ski Day for Non-skiers

One of the benefits of my job is that I get to travel, speak and learn at conferences all over the world. But I also look for memorable experiences to go along with each trip.

Last year I attended Adobe Summit for the first time. Adobe had several networking opportunities, parties and a great concert by Foster the People. But what I loved most about the conference is that I did not have to figure out how to make the trip even more memorable. They even arranged to take us on a ski day at Canyons Resort, named a top ten North America ski resort in the annual SKI Magazine reader survey. I had never been skiing and my wife was concerned I would break something if I tried. I’m glad I took the plunge and attended the ski party Thursday and the entire ski day Friday because it made for an unforgettable time.

If this is your first Adobe Summit, I encourage you to participate in all of the networking events. The Black Keys will be the entertainment at the Adobe Summit Bash Wednesday (Salt Palace Convention Center, 7:00 – 11:00 pm). Just a few weeks ago they won Best Rock Album, and their song “Lonely Boy” won Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song. Bring your camera and stand in the front row if you want, or enjoy the different activities around the concert area with new friends.

But besides the concert, you have to experience ski day. Don’t worry if you have never skied before. Those that know how to ski bring their personal equipment, will get there early to do their own thing and are probably not reading this post. Let them have their fun but don’t let their Olympic looking equipment and outfits discourage you from taking advantage of this day and resort.

In order to get ready for the ski day, you need to rent ski or snowboard equipment. On Thursday evening, after the Adobe sneaks, there will be a Summit Ski Party (Marriott Downtown 6:30 – 8:30 pm) where you can take care of finding the right size ski boots and handle the rental paperwork. Again, there will be lots of food, drinks and opportunities to meet new people. After the ski party, take your new friends to the Depot After Dark karaoke party (The Depot 9:00 pm – midnight). You can add your name to the list if you want to sing or just sit back and enjoy those that want to embrace their rock idols.

Once you make it back to the hotel, don’t forget to set up your alarm for Ski Day at the Canyons. (7:00 am – 5:00 pm, grab and go breakfast at the conference hotels from 6:30 – 9:00 am).

Friday morning Adobe will have buses at the main hotels to take you to your ski day experience. After 25 minutes, you will make it to Park City and 4,000 acres of skiing at Canyons Resort.

Once off the bus, staff members from the ski rental company will help you get your equipment and you can either pay for a beginner’s lesson, walk around the resort village, visit the different shops and restaurants or take one of the lifts to enjoy the amazing views. You will be able to see other Summit attendees since most of us will be wearing the beanies Adobe will distribute.

Last year I had no clue what I was doing but found other conference attendees also taking the beginner’s class. We had a great time following the instructor, falling down in the beginner’s area and taking videos of each other. After a couple of hours we took a break for lunch at one of the restaurants in the resort village.

After lunch we went back to the beginner’s area and practiced for a few more hours. This year the band The Paragraphs will be playing from 1:00 – 5:00 pm. Our ski day ended with a few drinks at the “Umbrella Bar” in the resort village and then we got back on the buses Adobe had to take us back to our hotels. The umbrella bar would be a good place to meet your friends after the ski day and listen to the band.

The way I saw it was that if thousands of people from all over the world want to visit this beautiful ski resort and Adobe is working hard to arrange transportations and put together an event there, the least I could do was participate.

Getting Around Salt Lake City during Summit

Some Summit attendees are already in Salt Lake City taking pre-Summit training classes or attending meetings, and the rest will be arriving tomorrow. The energy here at the Salt Palace is slowly building and we can’t wait for Summit to kick off!

While you’re in town, remember that you won’t need a car to get around. There are Summit shuttle busses for all the official Summit hotels. Full information follows:

Drop off and pick up at the Salt Palace is at 200 South Loading Loop, located by the South foyer of the building.

Buses depart at 20-minute intervals, except between 2 p.m.–5 p.m., when service is at 30-minute intervals.
