Black Friday shoppers beware, that 3:00am bleary-eyed trip to the mall may not be getting you the epic deal you thought. The Adobe Digital Index Report reveals online prices will hit rock bottom on Thanksgiving Day, lower than on any other day during the holiday season. Record sales of $1.35 billion are expected on Thanksgiving Day, a 27% increase over last year.
And what will consumers be buying? Social media buzz for Apple’s iPhone 6 and 6+, Sony’s Playstation 4, Fitbits and Disney’s Frozen dolls are driving early interest.
The Digital Index Online Shopping Report also predicts sales for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, along with top gifts, retailers, and mobile purchases. Read the full report highlights on CMO.com.
How’d they do that?
The forecast is based on data of more than one trillion visits to 4,500 retail websites over the last six years and 20 billion visits this October alone. The tremendous volume of data collected via the Adobe Marketing Cloud has enabled the company to successfully predict spending on Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday within one percent in previous years, the most accurate forecast of its kind.
