We look forward to the Sundance Film Festival every year. It attracts a wide range of talent from the across the world who make films that push the envelope on creative expression and technology – and simply put, Sundance is just plain cool.
The best part of our jobs? Getting to be there to meet the filmmakers – and this year we’re letting you in on the meet and greet. We’re going to live stream our Q&A with filmmakers, such as directors Daniel Scheinert & Daniel Kwan of Swiss Army Man and director Matt Johnson of Operation Avalanche. And these will not be your usual sit down interviews. We’re getting personal – real personal – in a series we’re calling “Pillow Talk,” where we’ll be getting in bed with directors and editors, quite literally, to talk about their film and what’s next in the industry. We’ll cover everything from tech to content distribution, and we expect some funny moments too given the series hosts: Jonathan Hyla and Anthony Veneziale.
Are you going to Park City too? Join us over at the Airbnb Haus (596 Main St.) to watch the “Pillow Talk” interviews and when we’re not streaming, we’re turning this into your opportunity to Make It. Come, take a pic of yourself in bed (!) and doodle your dreams of where you’ll go next. It’s your chance to get out of the cold and get creative. We’ve heard sharing your dreams with the world will make them come true, so get started! You can take your picture at the Airbnb Haus Friday, Jan. 22 – Friday, Jan. 29 from 10 am – 5 pm.
Also happening at the Airbnb Haus is our filmmakers panel, Saturday, Jan. 23 at 3:30-4:30 p.m. Meet Tim Miller, director of 20th Century Fox’s Deadpool, plus the leads from the cutting rooms of other films such as Universal Studio’s upcoming Hail Caesar! who will talk about what they do, their process and what’s next in the world of editing and visual effects. Details here.
This is all just the first half of the festival! As the week goes on, our Project 1324 team will be on the ground with the Sundance Ignite Fellows – a program supporting the next generation of independent filmmakers. We’re proud to be involved, and introduce the five winners and new Ignite Fellows of the “What’s Next?” Challenge. We’ll be following them around, documenting their Sundance experience and sharing. Follow @Project1324 on Twitter for more.
