The World’s Most Innovative Companies List from Fast Company is out and we’re thrilled to be on it! Adobe ranked 35 on the list of 50, alongside visionary tech companies like Amazon and Airbnb. Fast Company called out Adobe “for pushing creativity to the cloud.” We were also named to the Top Ten list in Fast Company’s Design category.
One of the most highly sought after lists for companies to be included on, Fast Company celebrates organizations that “exhibit the best in nimble business and impactful innovation.” While the exact recipe for making the list is a secret, the magazine’s editors tell us that they start by considering companies behind the year’s most notable innovations. From there, they focus on the impact those companies have across business, industry and the larger culture around them.
“Adobe has always been an innovation-driven company, so I am extremely proud to see our world-class engineering teams being recognized with this honor,” said Abhay Parasnis, our CTO. “We’ve been calling this ‘Adobe magic’ for years, but it’s actually not magic at all – it’s the hard work of our engineers and scientists advancing the art and science of experiences to deliver breakthrough innovations for our customers.”
Coincidentally, this recognition comes on the heels of our biennial Adobe Tech Summit. Last week nearly 3,000 Adobe developers, designers, engineers and researchers came together to share the latest pioneering projects they are working on across our company. Our theme this year: “Invent for the Future” — a cue for us to continue pushing forward and a reminder that what we do impacts the world beyond just the tech industry. This year’s Tech Summit included sessions with internal and external speakers on the future of experiences; deep dives on Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality; an emerging-technology tech fair; and a robot challenge programming contest. Watch this space: we’ll share stories and videos from Tech Summit later this month.
While staying on the bleeding edge of technology is a priority, we also look for other, perhaps more unconventional ways to invent. We reimagine tired business processes like performance reviews, with programs like Check-in (which is open source, and available for all.) We’re empowering all of our employees, no matter what their job titles are, to pursue their passion projects through our Kickbox program (also available for everyone.) We know we innovate better together so we encourage other companies to take these playbooks and make them even better.
Abhay closed his presentation at Tech Summit with: “Today’s newspaper wraps tomorrow’s fish.” Yes, we’re celebrating our successes today but we’re not complacent. We’re constantly on the lookout for what’s next, so stay tuned…
