Changes to Video Playback Support for Lightroom Classic

Microsoft announced the end of support for Windows 7 by January 14, 2020. This aligns with their 10 year commitment to product support.

What does this mean for Lightroom Classic

By June 2020, Lightroom Classic will end video playback support for Windows 7. This will affect the import and playback of new and existing videos in your catalog, as well as the ability to use the Slideshow module. Export will continue to work only when exporting as original.

All other functionalities of Lightroom Classic will continue to work as expected for Windows 7. All other OS will not be affected. This decision follows Adobe’s mission to align with Microsoft’s support and will allow our team to focus on other future-oriented features.

If you do not plan to upgrade your OS from Windows 7, we advise you to not update Lightroom Classic beyond 9.2 if you need video playback support for your workflow.

Our team hopes that providing this information early will allow you to make plans now and manage the upcoming end of life for video support if you currently use Lightroom Classic on Windows 7.
