What You Missed from Sneaks at MAX 2018
Sneaks are hands down always my favourite session at Adobe MAX, where our super smart Adobe engineers take the stage to share short demos that provide an inspiring and entertaining look into future tech at Adobe. This year’s Sneaks were co-hosted by comedian, actress, and writer Tiffany Haddish and Adobe’s Paul Trani, Senior Creative Cloud Evangelist. Tiffany and Paul kicked off the show by demonstrating #ProejctPuppetron, which was shown at last year’s MAX Sneaks, and then sat back with the audience to be wowed by the innovation that this year’s presenters had to share.

Have you ever wanted to add animation to an illustration, like rainfall? You’d have to animate each and every raindrop! That’s where Project Brush Bounty comes in to help – it enables the application of simple motion to illustrations using brushes that can create movement while you sketch or paint.
Brush Bounty also helps connect your artwork with data. Let’s say you want to add rainfall to your image that coincides with the actual rainfall where you are. All you have to do is copy a link that contains the live rainfall data and enter it in the rain density column. Boom.
For all you video content creators out there, we’re all too familiar with the painstaking process of re-cropping video in varying aspect ratios and trying to keep the most important pieces of the video intact. Enter: Project Smooth Operator. Smooth Operator uses Adobe Sensei to automatically re-crop a video to multiple new aspect ratios, all while keeping what is interesting or important inside the frame.
Designers, have you ever designed a super cool box only to have it printed and realise that your designs don’t match up when the box is folded? We feel you. And that’s where Project Fantastic Fold comes in to save the day. Fantastic Fold analyses a dieline and automatically determines the folded 3D shape, as well as an interactive mapping between the 2D and 3D representations.
Navigating a 3D model on a 2D surface is not very natural. Imagine if you could walk around your 3D object and connect the scene to your phone. Project Waltz is just that – a mobile companion app that controls 3D virtual cameras and allows for precise and natural camera motions.
A glyph morphing and generation system that smartly manages the representation of a glyph smoothly without creating or modifying any font and generates complete alphabets and fonts captured from a single letter glyph or word. Project Fontphoria uses deep machine learning powered by Adobe Sensei to convert an image into a glyph and apply that style to other glyphs, turning them into a complete set of fonts.
Project Fast Mask uses Adobe Sensei to quickly select an object in a video and accurately apply the mask across multiple frames of the video, making a laborious manual process nearly automatic.
An easy and intuitive tool for editing 3D man-made objects, Project Model Morph allows you to scale objects easily and quickly, preserves symmetry, and eliminates distortion.
Have you ever had a photo that you wished was a video instead? Moving Stills enables any photograph to be turned into a live photo; animating the image in 3D and simulating the realistic effect of flying through the photo. Moving Stills uses deep learning powered by Adobe Sensei to generate videos from a single still image, something that would otherwise take an experienced artist hours to finish.
A new invention that turns your voice into music, Project Kazoo uses Adobe Sensei to allow a content creator convert their singing voice to the sound of a musical instrument, allowing them to create audio tracks or sound effects for their videos. Tiffany Haddish wants to use this to drop an album.
For designers, editing vector graphics can be super complex. But Project Good Bones enables intuitive and shape-aware editing of complex vector graphics naturally. It analyses the shape of a graphic and connects them to create a skeleton, and automatically adds segment handles and ‘bones.’
