Adobe MAX 2016: Featured Speakers for Web & App Design

For those MAX attendees interested in the Web & App Design Track, you’ll be in the right place when you join us in San Diego this October. Here are just a few of the speakers you can catch this year. You can view the full speaker lineup here.

Ethan Marcotte – Ethan Marcotte is an independent designer and author, who coined the term “responsive web design” to describe a new way of designing for the ever-changing Web. Responsive Web Design and Responsive Design: Patterns and Principles, his popular books on the topic, have been widely praised, showing how designers and organizations can leverage the Web’s flexibility to design across mobile, tablet, and desktop—and whatever might come next.

Session: Responsive Design: Beyond Devices 

Denise Jacobs – Denise Jacobs is a Speaker + Author + Creativity Evangelist who speaks at web conferences and consults with tech companies worldwide. As the Founder + Chief Creativity Evangelist of The Creative Dose, she teaches techniques to make the creative process more fluid, and practices for sparking innovation. Working in Web Design & Development since 1997, she is an industry veteran and regarded expert on many things web. She is the author of The CSS Detective Guide and co-author of the Smashing Book #3 1/3 and Interact with Web Standards. Denise is also the Chief Unicorn of Rawk The Web and the Head Instigator of The Creativity (R)Evolution.

Session: Creating Better Together 

Jina Bolton –  Jina Bolton created her first style guide in 2004. She has grown to be a designer, developer, writer, and speaker on design systems ever since. At Salesforce, she is lead designer on the Lightning Design System. She also created the Design Systems Slack, which led her to start the San Francisco Design Systems Coalition. Recently, she organized Clarity, the first ever design systems conference. Additionally, she is active in the Sass community. She leads the Sass brand and website. She was a tech editor for Dan Cederholm’s Sass for Web Designers. She organizes The Mixin, a front end meet up which has hosted talks by some of the most prominent members of the CSS/Sass community, and recently took ownership of Sass News. Previously, Jina has worked at companies including Apple, GitHub, Engine Yard, and Crush + Lovely. She coauthored two books, Fancy Form Design and The Art & Science of CSS.

Session: Designing a Design System 

Nancy Douyon – Nancy Douyon is a User Experience Research Program Manager at Google. She has a special focus on remote user research methods and emerging markets. Her daily quest is to increase the usability of products, applications, complex systems and websites across different cultural ideals and cultural practices. Prior to Google, Nancy worked at IBM Interactive Research, Accenture Experience Agency, and Intel’s Mobility Group. She was instrumental in creating a User Experience Lifecycle approach to help illuminate practical applications of technology in the global south and beyond.

Session: Humanizing Usability and User Experience Across Cultural Boundaries 

Chris Converse –  Chris has over 23 years experience in graphic design and interactive media, with a unique focus on both design and development. Chris possesses development skills across such languages as PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery and AngularJS, making his design execution optimal across various media. In addition to design and development, Chris is a featured speaker at various industry-related conferences, including the How Design and Interactive Conferences, AIGA, and the Adobe MAX conferences. Chris has also written, designed and hosted video training titles on Lynda.com, HOW Design University, Udemy.com and Amazon Video (free with Prime).
