Audition CC: Your Toolkit for Exceptional Audio

With the latest release of Creative Cloud, getting started in Audition CC is easier than ever. With a new panel for audio newbies, you can quickly get up to speed with key skills and best practices for getting the most out of Audition. Access deeply integrated tutorial walkthroughs without ever leaving the application. If you don’t see the panel automatically, find it in the help menu.

This release also brings a new User Interface. You’ll see this gorgeous, flat UI in our updates, but expect the experience to unify the look-and-feel of Adobe’s tools across the spectrum, from desktop to mobile and web. With all-new vector-based icons, the UI elements should look sharp at any display resolution.

A peek behind the curtain would expose a lot of goings-on with effect plug-ins. Not only will you see updates to many of our classic plug-ins to fully support High DPI displays, but the audio team has shared several Audition-only audio effects with Premiere Pro including Adaptive Noise Reduction, Parametric EQ, Automatic Click Removal, Studio Reverb, and even the top-tier Dynamics Processing compressor/expander. Video editors will now be able to drop these effects on their clips without leaving the comfort of their NLE timeline.

When are we going to get bins in Audition? No way to organize clips.

Bins remains a highly prioritized feature, however it’s not as easy as “adding bins.” Other applications which have bins for asset organization, such as Premiere Pro, typically work with Projects, but not single media files. Audition is focused on both single media files, and Sessions which combine many files into a timeline, and differentiating between them is a very difficult challenge, especially as multiple sessions can be open at once, and the same file may be opened across them as well as being manually edited in the Waveform editor.

All that engineering justification aside, the team is aware this is a problem that needs to be solved, and we continue to tackle the foundational elements we’ll need to build a project format that will be backwards compatible, integrate with Premiere Pro and other Adobe tools, and provide the flexibility Audition users need for all their different workflows.

Yes! So glad to hear this is coming (one day). 🙂
2 quick requests: can you make the “Split” track feature available from the keyboard during multitrack playback, rather than just with the mouse?
Can you make it so we don’t have to choose a filename for a session? I know there are technical reasons, but I often need a quick fix, and then once I’m done, I’ll then do a “Save As”, rather than a save. It seems like a backwards solution. Start with the filename and then work, rather than work, and then save… So I regularly get the default location that I constantly write over, because Audition needs to know a location to save, instead of a temp location…
I hope you get my drift on that one.
Love your work on the program though. It’s great. 🙂

Did Adobe ever implement the ability to change time signature in the middle of a song, for example, by keyframe or the like?

    • By Durin Gleaves - 3:44 PM on November 3, 2016

Audition still doesn’t support display or automation of multiple tempos or time signatures in the time ruler. This is generally more of a music composition feature, which isn’t Audition’s focus at this time. That said, if we do tackle MIDI and music production in the future, this will certainly be a high priority feature.

I noticed on the latest version now when I SAVE AS the directory reverts to the last saved placed, not where the original file I opened is — as Audition would in previous versions. Can this be changed? Thank you.

I’d still like to see the Convolution effect come back. Also, can we have an option to toggle whether the channels on the Channel Mixer effect are separated into tabs? It can save space, but it’s really annoying to have to switch between them a lot.
