Thousands of SFX are yours license-free with Audition CS5.5.

An install of Audition CS5.5 on your Mac or PC takes up a mere 300MB or so. Yet Audition comes with literally thousands of sound effect files that you can use license-free to create or polish soundtracks. Ambient sound beds, environmental backgrounds, Foley FX, explosions, automobiles, and dozens of other useful categories contain around 10,000 files in stereo 48k WAV format. That’s enough to let you create quite a number of soundtracks without ever repeating your SFX files.

All these SFX files are available for download through Adobe Resource Central within Audition CS5.5. All the SFX files are high-quality, 48k WAV files, so you can use them for the foundation of your sound design work, too. Using the amazing sound-bending DSP effects in Audition CS5.5 such as Stretch and Pitch, Distortion, Echo, and many more, you can transform a simple footstep into a menacing underscore or a sci-fi science experiment. Audition CS5.5 gives you the fuel for your soundtrack imagination!

Click on the image at left to read the entire list of SFX categories available. Each category can contain many hundreds of useful sound effects, from environmental ambiance tracks and background sound beds to Foley effects and sci-fi effects.

    This is awesome!

BUT the “Resource Central” window in Audition is pretty bad (at least here on the Mac):
    • Why can’t I make it show more than 10 items per page?
    • When I download a sound and start dragging it out of the window on my primary screen the dragged item shows up in the corresponding position on the secondary screen…
    • After I dropped a sound into a track of my session the mouse-cursor just disappears and stays invisible until I move it back into the “Resource Central” window.
    • Previewing sounds is faaaar to slow, but I guess that’s a cloud thing. Just saying that if I preview sounds on my HD with QuickLook, I’m 20x faster… Is there no option to download the entire library?
    • And how do you even make one part of an application feel sluggish when everything else is smooth?

This is a great feature! I love the idea of having an (ever expanding?) sample DB in the cloud. Please make it fun to actually use it!

So where does the damned thing download to? I’ve downloaded severael and they are nowhere toa be seen. And while I;m on the subject….why doesn’t it allow me to make my own loops and save them as .cel files. Aud 5.5 is a giant step backwards…I’ve got 25 licenses and would trade all of them for a decent audio app.

Can’t find Resource Central anywhere. Even from inside Audition 5.5, could you provide a link at least? A search from Adobe’s homepage essentially brings me back to this page.

If you’re using a Mac, open the finder, click you hard drive, then it’s under, USERS/SHARED/ADOBE/RESOURCE CENTRAL/ AUDITION-4.0(EN-US)/SOUND EFFECTS
