So You Want to Make a Book…

Adobe and Blurb are partnering with illustrator extraordinaire Rob Generette to document his process as he creates a published book from conception to production.

Rob has been drawing since he was three, so you could say he knows a thing or two about illustration. Adobe has been a fan of Rob’s digital pieces for a while, and we regularly feature his work on our social channels.

When Rob attended Adobe MAX in 2015, his notion that he was in the right line of work was solidified.

“That’s when it hit me,” says Rob. “Maybe I am like guys I admire: Aaron Draplin, James White [Signalnoise], Hydro74, Brian Yap… They’re creative giants doing what they love without apologies and with complete integrity.”

Through the course of this project, Rob will demo how he uses Adobe apps like Capture CC, Illustrator Draw and Photoshop Sketch with desktop apps like InDesign CC. He might even share some trade secrets and cool shortcuts. The finished book will also be available for sale on Blurb’s website.

You can follow Rob’s story and process on the Blurb blog. Catch more of Rob’s work on his blog, Zilla-Stration.
