Thursday Trend Watch: A Spike of Success
Fashions come and go in every facet of design. Whether this seasons color is orange, dog to have is the English bull dog, or city to be seen Lisbon, there was no debate that the pineapple was the plant life that took top of the crops last year.
In 2016 however, a new entry took over the crown with spikes remaining on trend; the cactus. These prickly skinned plants having infiltrated every nook and cranny of hip and happening places and people (on their clothes obviously, a little uncomfortable otherwise!), and become the latest unofficial design mascot of cool.
Despite its parched roots belonging in deserts and savannahs, the cactus has become a firm favorite in Scandinavian interior design, befitting of crisp coolness, clean lines and offsetting the white density. Their requirement for heat and lack of water and care enables them to bridge the outdoor and indoor world in a minimalistic, and modern tone.
