In this quick tip (How to use Lightroom’s “Show Photos in Subfolders” Feature) Julieanne shows when to toggle Lightroom’s Show Photos in Subfolders feature and why turning it on might show a 0 photo count for your topmost (parent) folders.

Thank you, thank you. I’ve been wanting to turn that feature off since installing Lightroom. I put the odd travel photo that doesn’t fit any of the subfolder topics and isn’t worth making a folder of its own in the parent folder and with Lightroom I have had to either wade through all 2000 Africa photos to find those images, or make a new sub folder that I really didn’t need. Show Images in Subfolders is now permanently banished in my household.

This saved me from totally panicking. all of a sudden it was like I had only 300 photo in lightroom instead of thousands!
