Once a Location has been created in the Saved Locations panel in Lightroom’s Map module, you can quickly apply that Location information by dragging images from the filmstrip and dropping them onto the saved Location. Likewise, you can drag a Saved Location to a photo in the filmstrip.  In both cases, the photo will receive the same location as the already defined “Saved Location”.

Is the name of the Saved Location also saved as metadata? Could for example fit in as IPTC location?

Hi Nils, LR does not save the name of the user-created “Saved Location” (the ones that the user creates in the Saved Locations panel) as part of the metadata. But I think it’s an interesting request. I would suggest posting your request to either of these forums so that the product management team can see it as well.
