PhotoWorld Asia 2011 – Manila, Philippines

Thank you so much to everyone who organized, attended and participated in PhotoWorld Asia 2011.  I can honestly say that your hospitality was above and beyond anything I have ever experienced while traveling and I am grateful for all of the new friendships that I have made as a result of visiting your beautiful country!

The seminars at PhotoWorld Asia were all outstanding.  I had a wonderful time  learning lighting and posing from the incredible Hanson Fong and was thrilled to be able to speak to such an engaged group of photographers who, at the end of a full day of Lightroom and Photoshop instruction, still wanted more!

Triston Yeo and Stuart Dee, thank you for sharing your beautiful images –  it was a pleasure getting to know you and seeing you in action capturing visual moments of our travels through your photography.

Special thanks goes to everyone who worked so hard behind the scenes to make this event such a  success: Mrs. Huang , Mr. Ka Lito and Mr. Nappi, Ms. Lalana, Dr. Amado Castro, Mr. Inumerable, Mr. Ruwen Verdaguer as well as the numerous volunteers needed to make everything happen behind the scenes. You all work tirelessly to help the photographic community of the Philippines and it shows in the quality of the work of your photographers.

And for all of you that joined us for the live shoot on Tuesday, I hope that you had as much fun (and learned as much as I did) while photographing the models at the fashion/body paint photo shoot.

I hope to post some images soon…

Imaging USA in San Antonio Texas!

I hope you will join me next week at Imaging USA in San Antonio Texas! I have two presentations: Lightroom 3 – Secrets of the Develop Module and Photoshop CS5 – Refining Your Personal Style. Details below. Giddy-up.

Monday January 17th, 2011     9:00 – 10:30 am

LR3 Secrets of the Develop Module – Julieanne Kost will unveil the secrets to creating the highest quality images possible by harnessing the power within the Develop module in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3. You’ll master the tools needed to enhance, refine and add creative effects to your images (using both global and local nondestructive image adjustments), add stylistic effects, convert to black and white, and enhance and/or subdue local color and tone for mood. Then, discover how to expedite the finishing process with custom presets to quickly apply these effects to multiple photographs, preparing your images for final delivery directly from within Lightroom or through the seamless integration with Adobe Photoshop 5.

Tuesday January 18th, 2011 7:30 – 9:00 am

Photoshop CS5 Refining Your Personal Style – There are many ways to add your own personal style and enhance your photography after the shoot. For instance, join Julieanne Kost, Digital Imaging Evangelist for Adobe Systems, and discover some subtle techniques in Adobe Photoshop CS5 that will help make your images express your own personal vision. You’ll discover creative methods for converting images to black and white, colorizing and adding edges, overlays, textures and special effects that show your personal touch. In addition, you’ll learn how to sequence multiple images and composite photographs together to create a single photograph, wherein the sum is greater than the individual parts.

Photos from Copenhagen, Denmark

Fortunately for me, the last day of the recent CS5 tour in the Nordics wrapped up in the absolutely magnificent city of Copenhagen. I bundled up in a coat and scarf and headed out to explore the city as many of the locals do – on a bicycle! Here are a few images from the journey, including the colorfully painted buildings along Nyhavn and the Halloween decorations in Tivoli gardens.

Some details as I set out on my bicycle.

I am looking for shadows, lines and how they intersect.

Since the response has been overwhelming, I have linked to them below. Of course, anyone is welcome to use the slides, although they might not be as clear to those that did not attend the presentation…
